Our Gratitude Journal

SunFern November 12th, 2017

Today I am starting this thread. It will be our community's Gratitude Journal. Share anything you are grateful for in your life - be it small or big. It can be that you had a good night's sleep yesterday or talked to a friend after a long time or simply watched the sun rising. It can be anything !

Feel free to post to this thread, anytime, any day, as many time as you like.

Give praise with water,

With storms of rain and thunder

And the small rains that sparkle as they dry,

And the faint floating ocean roar

That fills the seaside villages,

And the clear brooks that travel down the mountains

And with this poem, a leaf on the vast flood,

And with the angels in that other country.

A List of Praises by Anne Porter

Hello! Youve found a clue for the Pen Pals event for Mental Health Awareness Month. This is a clue for ED support, the clue was ‘being grateful for anything youd like and the term is gratitude! Thank you for participating.

@SunFern :O Are you still here? I have not seen you in ages! I'd very much like for you to still be here :)

1. I am thankful to have found this thread again!

2. I am thankful that two of my close relatives have trusted me to take care of two of their pets while they are out of the state!

3. I am thankful that I do not have to worry about running out of food, or not having enough for any certain thing.

4. I am thankful that I am (well, my brain is) listening better. My stomach or my body says, "Hey I'm hungry!" or "Feeling drained, need fuel!" (= food) and my brain is learning to listen to my body again.

Next step: Get my brain to tell my body to STOP whatever activity I am doing ... and like go get some food!

Need #EDSupport ... trying to be a strong #EDWarrior I could use some help with this? (nods) (nods again) ~ Platy

@SunFern - Arrrrrr! I pressed the wrong button and lost my entire post (pout, pout)! But I was remembering something earlier today sooooo very directly related to this Our Gratitude Journal - so I simply must retype and post this.

Specifically today, June 3rd,

I am thankful that ....

1. I have cheese, breadsticks, cold canned fruit, and MILK yes in my refrigerator.

2. I have frozen pizza, Popsicles, and other frozen treats (also read as ice cream!) in my fridge's freezer.

2B. I have reliable electricity so the fridge and freezer will stay cold! smiley

3. I have cereal, flour/sugar/baking things, and *small* appliances in my kitchen cupboards (yes, and soups and canned veggies, etc).

4. I am thankful that I own a working waffle iron as I really like waffles! My friend, who gave it to me as a gift, thank you! (again)!

I think perhaps ... after some sleep (what, sleep? what is that!?) ... I shall be like Donkey (of the movie "Shrek" (2001) ) and say .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8jzvh5Wb00 (yup, waffles!)

Oh and one last thing, for now, to be thankful for...

Now for today, June 4th.... 🎈 Happy Birthday 🎂 to You, Katrina! I hope you have a super and wonderful day smiley Maybe you can get a nap in too with your little ones. (or do something you'd much rather do! Like read a good book, or "whip up" some Monster cookies!) Take care! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY heart from all the way up here North-like to you all the way down there South-like. Love you, dear! Have a great day! ~ Platy

Hiya back :) @lovingBanana5204

I am most required to comment on your thankfulness to: having a plan to talk with my friend tomorrow.

I'm not sure if that is as big of a deal for you as it is for me, but definitely I am very thankful for those days/evenings when, 7cups.... journal? ..... ok I remember I have a plan to talk with my friend at ___o'clock tomorrow. It just makes things better somehow when I realize ah ok that's tomorrow .... It's almost like it allows my worrier to worry a little bit less. ~ Platy

Today, June 8th (Happy birthday, Ano!!!), I am thankful for:

-- my small in-the-wall air conditioning unit! It has been very hot here the last 3 days. It is little but it can be mighty!

-- the forecast of rain, tomorrow! I really hope it might rain in the day time. Big rain, loud thunder, etc is good for me - cathartic almost.

-- the fact that I am at home - MY place. It is missing a DOG right now, but it's my space - and if needed gets me away from Mom and Dad.

-- my previous experiences with my counselor Linda. There are some days that I just miss her a lot (she retired and I worked to find a new counselor).

-- while my current counselor doesn't know a lot about eating disorders, I am thankful that she is not weighing me (a long time ago, my counselor would weigh me without telling me the number once a week - that was hard).

-- to have two people - one IRL - to whom I can tell anything! Yes, really ... anything. I am horrible at lying (which is good) but I think she would listen to me in a story of a lie, or maybe 'just' 80% not true. I'm not sure that I really could do that though (or why I would want to) because she has listened so very well in the past, to everything from this crap happened TO me to this crap happened in our family and affected me. I am overwhelmingly thankful that she came into my life -and I into hers. I think my life would be quite different if we had not ever met.

(okay I'll go over to corner now, sit down with blanket she made for me, and cry) I would like to do that, yet they'd not really be fully tears of sadness, I think there's a lot of overwhelmed and thankful in there too. #EDSupport @Anomalia @emsworld - where did you go? still here? @lovingBanana5204 #EDWarriors ~Platy

@SunFern I'm grateful for the fact that my plants are growing really well! I wasn't sure they would in the kind of soil they're in, but they're totally thriving!!
