The After of Recovery

So many times I think we all get caught up in the before story in our recovery journey, about who was sicker, who was "sick enough". We don't need a before story here. What's your after story of recovery? What are all of the amazing things that recovery has given you?

Recovery has given me the energy to do the things I love, that's my after story. What's yours?

Recovery taught me who truly cares and who doesn't. It's been a long road. Been going on 8 months now. They have been so hard after dealing with this off and on for years. I'm hoping to keep going strong. One thing I know about me is i'm a fighter and I don't know when to quit.

Sorry if this was a bit all over the place. This is coming from a tired mind.

@TreatYouBetter

That's amazing! Our EDs tend to have a negative impact on us, but recovery is super positive heart

i'm still near the beginning of my journey, but i feel much freer. i can enjoy lunch dates with my friends and not panic if my dad decides to make waffles for my family :) i can eat birthday cake and french fries and salad and not feel guilty about any of it, or view one differently than the other. i've had my backslides, but i feel much healthier and happier and maybe one day, i'll truly love myself

@24Help1

Thank you so much for this question. I feel people rarely talk about this.

It's been a few months since I have recovered. And the results are amazing. Firstly, my hair, it's almost back to what it used to be. Long, shiny, strong and thick!

Secondly. I now have an amazing relationship with my family. No more arguments over undereating or over-exercising. Now that I have recovered, they are happy to see me lead a healthy life. And I feel happy seeing them happy. It's an ongoing circle, lol.

Moreover, I pretty much don't care about what people think of me anymore, and that honestly, feels amazing. I don't really care if I look bloated or sleepy or with my hair undone. It doesn't matter to me, and that is a huge relief!

Again, thank you for this post!

Recovery gave me my children... thankyou for posting this, I really needed to see it today, all too often I look at my recovered body and fall back into old thinking patterns and habits, today was one of those days and you just reminded me that without recovering there's no way I could have gotten through 2 pregnancies or even have managed to get pregnant in the first place and I forget that in doing the hardest thing I have ever done by far, I gained the most precious things in my life by far

Freedom. Honestly, freedom. Going out without caring as much as I used to about what’s going into my body
