The Reasons We Recover.
Recover.
A simple word. A powerful decision. A choice to unlearn everything your eating disorder ever taught you, to close that book and open a brand new one. It sounds easy, but it is far from it. However, it is so so worth it.
I was thinking about the moments eating disorders steal from people. The experiences lost..
Recover so you can eat a slice of cake at a family birthday, be a part of the celebration.
Recover so you can be in the photo, not behind the camera hiding your body.
Recover so you can taste the foods you loved as a child. Enjoy them with peace. With balance and health.
Recover so you can get your health back. Your happiness back. Your laughter.
Recover so your mind is no longer occupied with numbers, rituals, food, or fear.
Recover so your life becomes yours again, this is the real control/
Recover for the younger version of you, the one who dreamed about growing up free. The one who never saw this coming.
Recover for the future version of you. The one who will thank you.
Recover for you. Because you are ready to take your life back. You are beautiful.
If you’re in recovery or thinking about it, feel free to share your reasons below. What has your ED taken from you? Or leave a message of encouragement for someone who might need it today.
