Am I being dramatic?

My parents weren’t there for years of my life. It was mostly my grandma or my babysitter, and en then they obviously loved my brother more. When we moved they suddenly decided to become parents. They put as much restrictions and time limits as they could on my new phone. They won’t give me privacy and keep taking away everything I love. I feel like I’m being controlled and suffocated and I think I’m being dramatic. I am 14 years old so it makes sense but they make fun of me in harsh ways that reminds me of my past mistakes that they won’t let go even though it was years ago. I already felt guilty, so guilty, but they won’t let me have some freedom. I feel trapped and confused.

@melomaniac16

I am sorry that you feel your parents loved your brother more and that they weren't there for you for so long. I wonder what made them realize that and change to be with you more. Perhaps they heard about dangers that are out there and they are trying to protect you. Even though I get that it must feel upsetting when it came out of a sudden and you do not have as much privacy as you would like, among other things.

Have you talked to them about your feelings? They should know whenever you feel like they make fun of you and tell them it is hurting you. When they were absent for most of the time, it is likely they do not know about how it is affecting you. I think also some discussion is needed when you feel they keep taking away everything you love. I hope that after talking more, they will understand how you feel.
