Relationship with my mother

Im 20 and i still live at home. Im the oldest in my family so i am the responsible one in my parents eyes. My mum and I are close but lately we have these rough patches where she picks arguments with me and because shes my mother I can’t do much about it. It’s effecting my mental health and my patience living at home. The arguments are over the most silly things but she will drag them out and not speak for me for hours or days and talk about me to the rest of the family. My dad and siblings don’t take her side or mine but its clear that they think its silly too but they will never say that to her. I just feel like its a losing battle because no matter what way she spins it shes always the mother and shes always right. I don’t want to fight with her but i want to defend myself also. Anytime i try defend myself I’m told i have an attitude. She’s never apologised for any of the arguments she just starts speaking to me again after some time like it never happened. Any advice?

Dearest @aquaEast3373, I’m sorry to hear that. It’s not easy to give a valuable advice. Perhaps, you and your mom need sometime alone, to talk. I understand your side, but, what about hers? Try to put yourself in her shoes in order to figure out her reasons. How is her health? Is she under stress? Or on menopause? Many things can turn a person less tolerant, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love you. She’s your mom. Give your relationship one more chance of a fresh start. You are still young, and empathy is a long life learning. Invite her to eat some cake at a coffee place. Just the two of you. Tell her what has been in your heart. Don’t get me wrong, because I don’t know all the facts. I’m just working with what I have. This is my advice based on what you wrote. I wish you the best and really hope you and your mom make peace and forgive each other. Much love 💗
