I need advice

I am a single mother. I left my ex husband and have been in the process of a contentious divorce and custody battle over my almost four year old son with my ex since 2021. I am currently in a relationship since 2022 with a man I grew up with. The relationship is very good but things are not able to go where we both want them to because of my divorce. I have a protective order against my ex and he has had no contact since receiving divorce paperwork with me or my son. I am working long hours as a waitress through the week. I am stressed a lot but I make ends meet for the most part. The issue is the only way I can afford my bills and make it to work is by dropping my son off with my mom, who lives over an hour away, all through the weekdays when I work, and picking him up on weekends. My current partner has been a dad to my son. The only one he knows. He lives an hour away in the opposite direction of my mom. My son and I only see him on the weekends. I am currently stuck in the state I am in until the divorce is settled… which wont be any time soon since I cant afford any more attorney fees to push it through at the moment. My ex is dragging his feet. He has no job, no car, and no place to live. And hasn’t since the divorce began. He has no chance of winning anything in the divorce he just wants to drag it out in hopes I’ll come back because he has nothing without me and will make no efforts to acquire his own living. My attorney advised to basically wait until he finds someone new to take advantage of and realizes this divorce is holding him back. But I miss my son. I hate being away from him. I cant move to be with my partner so we can help each other with the kiddo and work situation because a.) the divorce, I cant have someone else living with me and my son until its official and b.) he lives in a different state. My partner cant leave his job so he cant come here. I cant move closer to my mom because she is also in a different state. I cant afford babysitting. I don’t have any friends close enough to help out. I just don’t know what to do or how to keep going. I am struggling so hard. I just want to be with my son and I cant be his mom the way I want to and it sucks. I don’t want to do this forever… I hate it and I don’t know what to do

Hii there @brightJar346

Sounds like you're carrying so much weight right now, I can't even imagine how challenging, and this must be for you. It's clear that deeply care about your and want the best for him, circumstances seem to keep throwing roadblocks.

Your situation with ex-husband must be really draining, especially when it feels like it's affecting every aspect of your life. It must be emotionally tolling and stressful that he's dragging out the divorce. You're juggling with so many responsibilities, that's such a heavy load for anyone to bear.

You're in a position where many choices are restricted, and being stuck in this situation must be really frustrating. Finding moments of respite must be really challenging, but I hope you're able to take care of yourself too.

That's great of your partner that he's by your and your son's side during these times. Having someone to step up to be a father figure for your son is valuable, and it's heartwarming to hear about their bond.

It's clear that you're doing everything within your power for your son, stability and loving environment. You're doing your absolute best in this really difficult situation.

I wish I had a clear solution to offer, but I hope knowing that someone hears you and empathizes with your situation brings even a sliver of comfort.

You're incredibly resilient, and I really hope that things get easier for you soon and that you're able to be with your son again and find the peace and stability you deserve.

You are not alone in this; you got a whole community here to support you through this. We got you here 💜✨

@brightJar346

You're very welcome 💜 It must be really stressful to wait this out, but got this okay. It will be over soon and you'll be with your son again, and hopefully without any more hiccups 🤗💜
