I think I am too attached to a friend

I think I am too attached to my male friend of almost 30 years. Please tell me how I can take a step back and not allow myself to be so emotionally attached to him. I know that it's going to be hard, but I really need to do this for my sanity. Don't get me wrong, he's not a bad person, he has never treated me wrong, he has always been there for me when I've needed him. But I also have feelings for him, and I wanna break this cycle but still remain friends with him.

Hey there, I've been in the same situation as you before. It's not easy to detach ourselves emotionally from someone we've been friends with for a long time, especially when we have feelings for them. I think the first step is acknowledging your feelings and recognizing that they may cloud your judgment and prevent you from having a healthy relationship with your friend. One piece of advice I can give you is to create some space between you and your friend. This doesn't mean cutting them off completely, but it does mean setting boundaries and limiting the amount of time you spend together. You can also try to shift your focus onto other things in your life, like hobbies or other friendships, that bring you joy and fulfillment. This will help you to not rely solely on your friend for emotional support and to find other sources of happiness.
