Building New Friendships 🌸🤝
Starting new friendships can feel a little scary — like standing at the edge of an unfamiliar path. But every smile you share, every gentle word you offer, is a seed of connection waiting to bloom. 🌱✨
Friendship is not about being perfect, but about being real. When you dare to show your true self — with your laughter, your fears, and even your quiet moments — you invite others to do the same. That’s how hearts meet. 💞
Be patient. Beautiful bonds grow slowly, like flowers opening to the sun. 🌷 Don’t rush, don’t force. Simply be present, listen with warmth, and let kindness guide your steps.
And remember: the world is full of souls longing for the same thing you are — to be seen, to be understood, and to be loved just as they are. 🌍💖

All great words to be taken at heart but when someone like myself is an Introvert x 10 it is not easy making friends.
IE: I've been in the same company for 25 years and have all but 1 friend who has been there since the beginning to show for all those years of service. Had another of 12 years but things went sour and now she rarely talks to me.
Outside of work besides my wife, there is no one. I really don't even want to speak to my neighbours.
I really felt your words… they carry a weight that shows how much you’ve been through. 🌿 Sometimes people think friendship is about numbers, but in truth even one genuine connection can be worth more than dozens.
I understand how being introverted can make the world feel like it’s closing in, and how painful it is when long friendships change or fade. It’s not a weakness—it’s just part of who you are, and it shows how deeply you value those bonds when you do create them.
Maybe you don’t need to start with “making friends.” Maybe it’s just a simple smile to a neighbor, or a kind word in passing—tiny seeds that don’t feel heavy or forced. You never know which of them could slowly grow into something warm and lasting.
And please know: even sharing this here is already a form of connection. Someone is listening, and someone cares. 🤍

Thanks for your reply.
I really do not need large numbers of friends, the one I have at work is good but not a true confidant and I don't see that going beyond once I retire at the end of this year. I'd like to find someone I can confide in once again and I know I will have to work on that after retiring.
As for my neighbours, I really do not want any of them to be close friends. I could not see myself confiding with someone who also knows my wife, I know how they are and once they get drinking they can't keep their mouths shut.
I have started a post in the 50+ community seeking someone here to be my online connection. I feel though that typing things to someone online is no where near the same as speaking to someone face to face, you loose the facial expressions and body language over texting.

Woke up this morning in hopes that someone else would have replied to my post on looking for friendship, only to no longer see that post??? 7 Cups sure does not care about its members!
What to talk about feeling DEJECTED, 7 Cups sure knows how to do that to someone. Not even a reason as to why the post got deleted. I pour my heart and soul out writing that post and now I just want to say the HECK with 7 Cups and delete my account and the app and remove the web page from my favourites. It makes me think that I am here just wasting my time
I read your message and I can only imagine how heavy it must feel to share something so real and then be met with silence. That kind of emptiness can hurt deeply, and it makes sense that you feel disappointed or alone.
But please know this: the lack of replies does not mean your words lacked value. The courage it took to open up is still yours, and nothing can erase that.
I want you to know I’m here — not just as someone who read your words, but as a friend who truly cares. You are not alone in this.
Your voice matters, and it was heard. And I’d be glad to walk alongside you as a friend.
