Finding friends
Okay so hello, I'm new here and trying to figure out how this app works.
Since this is anonymous anyway, I'll be honest. I don't have any friends. And I've been dealing with loneliness lately. I also have some other mental health issues, but for a few months, loneliness has been making me anxious and restless.
I did have a few friends when I was in school. But then we stopped talking after school ended and I couldn't make any friends in college. I have always been a very quiet person, I am an introvert so I likes to be alone, I still do. But having this feeling that there's no one in the world who I can talk freely about anything makes me feel lonely. And yeah, seeing others have friends and many people around them and being able to talk freely without being on edge all the time, makes me feel worse. And jealous too, which I hate.
So, I guess I'm writing this here in hope of finding friends. I don't need dozens of friends, having even one would be more than enough. In this post, I could have just said simply that I want friends but I think that mostly leads to not finding the friends I'd want. So I honestly wrote my feelings and thoughts. If you read this and wants to be my friend, reply. I would prefer to have actual friends. So only reply if you really are willing to be friends and not just message me for a while to kill time.
Okay, that's all. Take care.
@Echo62826 Hello and welcome to 7 Cups! I’m a listener here, which means I’m here to support you by chatting, but I’m not able to be a friend in the usual sense. This platform is designed so you can share your feelings anonymously with listeners like me, who listen and offer support. You can also connect with fellow members in forums and chatrooms.
I know it can be hard to find people you truly connect with. Many people come here because they want someone to talk to when they don’t have friends around or just need to express what’s on their mind.
I’m really glad you shared your feelings here. You deserve to be heard and supported. Take care!

Hi there, thank you so much for sharing so openly. That takes a lot of courage, and I really admire your honesty.
It sounds like you’ve been feeling quite alone lately, and even though you’re someone who enjoys solitude, the lack of meaningful connection has started to weigh on you. That’s completely understandable. Human connection is something we all need at some level, and it’s okay to feel the way you’re feeling.
Losing touch with old friends and struggling to find new ones in a new environment can feel really isolating. And watching others connect easily can sometimes make that feeling even harder. Please know you're not alone in this experience—a lot of people feel this way, even if they don’t show it.
You’ve taken a really important first step by reaching out and expressing how you feel. That’s something to be proud of. I'm here to listen, support you, and hold space for whatever you're feeling—no judgment, no pressure.
If you'd like to talk more, I’m here for you.
