Honestly for me, it depends.
Like if you're actually thinking about me and carefully selecting a gift keeping in my interests and hoping I like it then I'd prefer a gift. I don't like it when people randomly selected the first thing they see and call it a gift. If you didn't get reminded of me when looking at it there's no need to get me that. I'm fine with cash. It also depends on how much cash 😏🤑

@lucy2 It depends on the giver. If the giver knows the person REALLY WELL, a thoughtful gift will do. If you don't know the person or just started, some cash so they could buy the gift themselves. 😊
