Do you speak American Sign Language? Or any other sign language? How proficient are you? How did you learn it? What inspired you? Have you done deaf events? Best way to learn sign language without classes?

Do you speak American Sign Language? Kinda, I can get by but not very well anymore.
Or any other sign language? No just American, tho from what I remember ASL isn't very different from any other version so if you know one you can generally get by in another.
How proficient are you? I used to do whole sentences and memorize Bible verses and have the occasional conversation, but now I would struggle to do more than super basic sentences and letters.
How did you learn it? My grandma's brother was deaf so she taught me and my sisters, tho one of them definitely went way better at it and uses it occasionally in here job now!
What inspired you? I thought it was cool! And Iit was a time to spend with Grandma so that is always great!

Best way to learn sign language without classes? Hmmm tuff question. You could watch YouTube videos, I would recommend finding a channel with both a deaf and hearing person if you want the best results. Otherwise there's not much else, find a deaf person and practice with them. But it is nearly impossible to learn sign language through book(trust me I tried!) so I wouldn't recommend a book unless it is advice unless it is just the alphabet which is a little easier on paper.

Yes...ehh... a little bit of British Sign Language. I can introduce myself, ask "How are you?" and use small phrases like "Thank you" "Sorry" "Please" "Good" etc.
How proficient are you?
Not proficient at all
How did you learn it?
I learnt from You-Tube and also from my best friend
What inspired you?
My best friend's cousin, actually. We were all on a trip together so I learned some phrases to communicate with her.

No, but I would love to

YouTube, I guess. But you have to be careful.... there can be different variations within a single language.... like ASL and BSL...so it's best to stick to one.

Yeah even in just ASL there can be pretty big differences depending on who you learn it from and where.
It's a real language and just like a real language it is going to be diverse especially when in different areas, like Texans(and kinda just the south) will say y'all.
Different groups of people who speak sign language will also have different slang, just like hearing folk do!
@7Bear7 Wow... It’s interesting and beautiful how culture and geography shape language....even without speech. Sign languages with different slang, style and regional flavor are proof that expression runs deeper than just voice.
