Unusual Foods According to the Alphabet!
Along a similar line as the “What are you thinking??” post that @Tinywhisper11 made <3
Post foods according to the alphabet! But not just the typical “apple, bacon, chips” kinda foods. Go BIGGER. When I say unusual, I don’t mean weird or anything. I mean… Foods most people don’t think of, haven’t tried, are from different countries than your own, etc.
Googling, etc., is absolutely allowed!
If possible, please tell us about the food. What is it? How is it cooked? Have you tried it? Where is it from?
I’ll start us off with A:
Aguachile
This is a Mexican dish made with shrimp, raw fish fillet, chiltipin peppers, lime juice, salt, slices of cucumber, and slices of red onion.
Now I’m hungry. ;)
Bacalao is the Spanish term for dried, salted codfish, a traditional preservation method that also adds flavor and extends shelf life. Before consumption, the salt cod must be rehydrated and have its excess sodium reduced by soaking it in multiple changes of water. Bacalao is a versatile ingredient, prepared in many forms, including stews (like the Spanish Bacalao a la Vizcaina), fried fillets, baked dishes, and salads, and it is a staple in cuisines across the Iberian Peninsula, the Caribbean, and even Norway

Cullen Skink is a Scottish chowder that includes haddock, potatoes, and sweet onions. It looks and sounds like clam chowder, but with haddock instead of clams <3
Great. Now I want some. Hehe

@braindamag3 one of many ways to eat Dungeness Crab
Dungeness Crab Cakes
@braindamag3

Unfortunately for me, I cannot make crab taste as good as my mom did 😕
@braindamag3
Nah, a hard pass for me 😁
Escargot. I'd be surprised if this one wasn't done
It's snails.
They can be cooked with dry heat in the oven or pan seared. Just spit balling here. A little salt and pepper I've heard is all it needs.... But I'd take that with a grain of salt.
It's a French dish. Don't just go grabbing random snails from outside. They have families and probably will make you sick.
Real recipe;
I was generally right.
Garlic butter:In a mixing bowl, add softened butter, garlic, shallot, parsley, white wine, salt, and pepper
De shell or don't and baked in an oven.
I couldn't find a small recipe and trust me the pictures aren't great.
@dapperApple5836
Yepdone way back on the first page 😁😜
Aw shnickeys...
Well hey I mean... I gave my off the dome recipe. Gotta be worth something. (Don't follow my recipe). 🌝
Noted, I won't go out grabbing random snails. Don't wanna be accused of breaking up a happy slithering home ð¤£
Lol
Fun fact I actually have a mild fear of slimey creatures. Snails & slugs included
When it rains I can't look at the ground because I don't wanna see the slugs that come out
Yuckyyyyy
@convivialAvocado1138
Same, snails and slugs give me the creeps 😂
Frankfurter is a specific type of German-style sausage, traditionally made from pork and seasoned with garlic, pepper, and other spices, while a hot dog is a broad American term for a variety of sausages, which can include frankfurters, and the sandwich made by putting a hot dog sausage in a bun. The main differences lie in ingredients (frankfurters are more specific, while hot dogs use a wider range of meats), and the "hot dog" can refer to both the sausage itself and the complete dish served in a bun.
I honestly thought it was the same thing guys
But hey, what do ik 🤷🏾♀️
Bro I can barely read that XD

Gazpacho is a cold, refreshing, and vibrant red Spanish soup that originated in Andalusia. It's typically made by blending raw vegetables until smooth and then refrigerating. The main ingredients are tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers, but variations can include melon or cantaloupe. Other common ingredients include garlic, olive oil, onions, and vinegar. Some recipes leave some ingredients unblended for texture.
Gazpacho is a fun name
Andalusia sounds magical
Sorry, copy & pasted from Google probably that's y. Also I have cups in dark mode on my phone

Oopsie
hot cross bun is a spiced bun, usually containing small pieces of raisins and marked with a cross on the top, traditionally eaten on Good Friday in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, India, Pakistan, Malta, United States, and the Commonwealth Caribbean.[1][2][3] They are available all year round in some countries, including the UK.[4][5]
The bun marks the end of the season of Lent and different elements of the hot cross bun each have a specific meaning, such as the cross representing the crucifixion of Jesus, the spices inside signifying the spices used to embalm him and sometimes also orange peel reflecting the bitterness of his time on the cross.

A joulutorttu (Finnish: [ˈjou̯luˌtortːu], lit. "Yule tart", Swedish: jultårta; sometimes known as tähtitorttu [ˈtæhtiˌtortːu], "star tart") is a Finnish Christmas pastry. It is traditionally made from puff pastry in the shape of a star or pinwheel and filled with prune jam and often dusted with icing sugar. The pastries can be in other shapes and apple used in place of the prune jam.
