Im more of a tells a story person myself, lets u get away from the world and see the point of view of the artist/ character and learn what they felt in the time they are portraying! Any genera from musical theater to heavy metal if it tells a story Im in! Let me know ur point of view
rhythm by far, but ones that can do both are ideal. Only issue is when a song tries to focus too much on the message and it hinders its ability to be played over and over again
I like them both for different reasons. Rhythm music is good if you want to create a certain mood and story music tells me something about the world, or if it's a story that relates to a story I already know, it makes me feel understood when I have to spend time around people who I feel don't understand me. Some artists are clever enough to do both (Childish Gambino comes to mind).
