Am i bad?
I live with my parents and work from home. I love them, but I’ve been feeling very frustrated lately because I don’t get any personal space. Even my room isn’t fully mine — we all sleep there to save electricity, even when the AC isn’t in use. I have my work setup there, so I can’t shift anywhere else either.
My parents don’t really understand the idea of needing space — they think it’s unnecessary. I try to adjust, but it’s affecting my mood and work. I just wish I had one corner in the house that felt like mine. Am I being rude for feeling this way?
Feelings are never right or wrong. Also you are not rude. More power to you.
No, I have a similar background. I felt so suffocated growing up and even dropped out of uni because I couldn't compartmentalize the commute, dealing with my family and focusing on my bachelor's. I only felt like I could breathe after running away and eventually (2 years later) I joined college far away and I feel like my relationship with my mom and brother has become really good. I've only got 6 months left of school and I'm trying hard to find a way to support myself to avoid going back there to stay, I had some of my lowest lows feeling trapped and forced to take care of them when I can't even cry without people judging and reprimanding me... talking about "you are not depressed, you don't know what a hard life is, you should stop pretending to be sad when you aren't paying rent or raising kids, she's not eating because she's watching her figure"
I'd rather live in a shack than go back to live there. No, I don't think You're being rude for feeling that way.

It’s totally reasonable to crave some personal space, especially when you work from home and need a dedicated area to focus. Not getting that can be really draining, both mentally and emotionally.
