Any advice on learning specific skills?

Hi there,

I don't really have anyone to explain this to. I've tried, but no one quite gets what I mean. Some listeners have been kind, but their responses can feel a bit vague. which isn't bad, but if this message resonates with you, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Due to some family issues, I can't go out or do much right now. I also struggle with low self-esteem. But despite that, I want to be financially independent in my own way. I'm a CS student, and coding is scary. It's a craft you have to build, a skill you learn slowly. I've been learning for about a year and a half while balancing school. I graduated six months ago.

Coding was already scary, but I got through the basics and finally started building things on my own. I made four projects(all small) but they worked. The further I go, the harder it gets. It scares me because I keep asking: 'what if I'm just bad at this?'

I've never been naturally good at anything. I've always had to struggle just to reach a substandard point. Every now and then, I impress myself. But mostly, I'm used to people saying I wouldn't achieve anything. My parents believed that at one point, until I proved them wrong. I thought coding would be the same. But it's not. Every time I code, I feel exposed, face to face with how much I lack. I'm scared that maybe the doubts are true.

Even though I know you have to be bad before you can be good.

@Dreee

You definitely are good enough.

Don't ever let people make you feel otherwise.

It's scary learning a new skill, and yes, there are ups and downs, but you've already mastered four projects, small or not.

You should be proud.

If this is your passion, continue to practice, foster it and learn as much as you can about it .

Good luck 💚
