Don't know what to do
How to be ourselves no matter what .... whatever awful opinions they say about us....even if we are told ...do what you want to do .... Can't help but be upset about their opinions.....
For eg: my parents says I don't have it me to crack NEET (it's an country level exam for admission in university to study medicine (or you can say an undergraduate degree).... The exam is tough and competitive....to be honest...I know deep down in my heart that if I work hard I can definitely crack it....but when my parents says that...can't help doubt myself... after all they are my biological parents who knows me from my childhood.... I can't say I am an outstanding student but I can definitely say I am an excellent student... Actually to them I have never been a daughter that they wanted me to be....they wanted an obedient daughter who does what they wanted.....I hold different opinions...compare to them.... which they don't like....it not like that i am saying my opinions and choices are always right....they just want me to do things and think like them...

Living by some one else''s standards is not a life I have ever wanted. I doubt you would be happy too.
Be true to yourself.
@Gettingbettertoday
But sometimes being ourselves upset the people close to us..... whom I don't want to hurt... Sometimes I think...is being ourselves really worth the hurt of our loved ones??

I don't like family drama either but i also know that living someone's else's life is not the way to be happy and fulfilled. Do what is best for you and if they care they will adjust. It is their emotions so it is their problem.

Other people's opinions can definitely make us doubt ourselves. But if you think that everyone else is right about you, you might end up living a lie, and becoming someone you're not.
A few years back, my family still knew that I was into writing. But they didn't like my writing, they thought I could never become like Hemingway (even though I was just a teenager), so they convinced me that I wasn't good enough and that I had to quit.
I quit writing for a while, but then I realized I loved it too much, and started writing again in secret, with a pseudonym. It didn't make me happy to behave like my family wanted, so I refused to change and kept being true to myself.
No one knows better than yourself. Other people only have a limited understanding of who you truly are. If you think you have certain capabilities, then you have them. And no one can tell you the opposite.
Bro, I am in same position. I'm a Maths student preparing for JEE engineering exam. Sometimes I feel that I'm worthless, sometimes I feel that I'm burden on others, and sometimes I feel that I'm stupid and deserve no life......
But I'm still what I was a year ago. Here's a thing: You cannot control others' expectations nor you can control Your Rank in NEET. This world is full of randomness.
You shouldn't be sad about these things because if you really think about bad luck, you could have been much worse. Rather you should focus on the things which you can control. This is stoicism. Idk if it works for you or not, but for me, it's my way of life. Im depressed since my 8th grade, yet thanks to stoicism, I can still live like a normal person. Though I feel that stoicism takes away your sense of humour.
I'm sharing link of an entrepreneur named Varun mayya and why he started believing in stoicism.

Btw, I think that you can consider emigration if you feel that competition is too much.
I I'm planning for Germany.
You see, the best thing you could say to assure yourself is that nothing is set in stone. Nobody knows what the future is going to be, what your future is going to be. Both, you and your parents are relying on assumptions. Now, the only difference between your assumption and theirs is that they are trying to enforce it on you, and you are trying to bury yours within.
Yes, our Indian parents do indeed know a lot about us, but they can't predict the future now, can they? So, instead of believing in our parents' gut feelings, why can't we rely on ours? Your parents would be the happiest people if you crack NEET, you know? They are forewarning you because they don't want you to fail, that's all.
If you indeed want to pursue MBBS, you should go ahead and give your best. Don't treat your parents' criticism as your enemy, instead, try and make it your inspiration. Best of luck! ❤️
