Feeling stuck when I compare myself to others
Hi everyone, I’m new here.
Sometimes I feel blocked because I compare myself to others, and it makes me lose motivation.
I want to change that and focus on small steps forward.
Have any of you struggled with this too? How did you deal with it?
@DaveCzapel
I'm sorry you are struggling.
It's human to compare ourselves with others and with what is going on in their lives.
It's difficult but there's no set timeline.
It's important to embrace your own talents and know your own worth!
Not easy, but you are as capable as anyone else 💜💕
@Amanda84
Thank you so much, Amanda. What you wrote really means a lot to me. You’re right — it’s human to compare, but I need to remind myself that there’s no fixed timeline and that my path is my own. I often forget to see my own talents and instead focus only on what I lack. Your words gave me a little hope and reminded me that I’m not as far behind as I sometimes think.
@DaveCzapel
A pleasure 💜
@DaveCzapel Hello again and welcome! I'm new too, just joined a couple of days ago! :)
@mlwhit83
Hey, great to see you here again! Looks like we both joined around the same time. It’s nice to know there are other new people finding their way here too. Hope you’re settling in well! :)
@DaveCzapel Hi again, yes, I'm settling in well, but some of the rules here are pretty strict, but I'll still stay. There's no sharing any personal details, no private message function, and no sharing any social media, which is a little strict for me. I'm not a big fan of rules, but understand certain ones need to be in place. But, welcome once again! I'm sure I'll see you on here!!! :D
@mlwhit83
Hi again! I’ve noticed the rules too, but to be honest I don’t find them too strict — they seem fair enough to keep the space safe. Anyway, I’m glad we crossed paths here, and I’m looking forward to a nice connection and cooperation with you on this platform. I’m sure we’ll see each other around a lot! :D
@DaveCzapel Oh *** yeah, I was thinking the same thing, absofkinloutely!
@mlwhit83
Haha, love it — glad we’re on the same page already! This is gonna be fun. :D
@DaveCzapel Heck yeah, I was just thinking that! Damn, wish I could PM you! Lol. I already like your energy and vibe!
@mlwhit83
Haha, same here — I was just thinking how cool it would be if we could PM too. Glad we’re vibing like this already, your energy is really refreshing! Looking forward to more of these chats. :D
@DaveCzapel I know right, where are you from? The US or any other part of the world? I love your vibe!!! Contagious as heck!
@mlwhit83
I’m from Poland! And it’s really nice to hear that from you — glad my vibe comes across that way. :)
@DaveCzapel Yes, I have a friend who's originally from Poland who lives in the states. I'm from the US. But yes, very cool to meet you!!!
Dave, at age 24, after 8 months of marriage, a collapsed coal mine buried me, breaking my back, turning me into a helpless person who couldn't even dress himself. I pushed around I rehab telling myself, life is over. I am screwed. Until a guy rolled in, built like a bidy builder who talked to us. He pushed marathons all over the world sponsored by Red Lobster! Just bought a house on a Lake. Had a free ski boat a company provided as he taught others in wheelchairs to sit-sli. He worked at a bank. Even dated my youngest sister for a while. Seeing him changed my entire perspective on life! I ended up racing track chairs in 10K events in the southeast. I was never very good, but it was a blast anyway. Comparing myself to Joey the. Marathoner, l was a failure! But overall, l did great! Started a pet shop, played basketball, had a great life. I am old now, almost 70 but felt l had the best life possible with my limitations. You can't compare yourself with others! It is depressing to do so. Be your best, do your best! Its all you can do my friend. Love you, God bless! Hang in there. Hugs!
@warmheartedHuman836
You are an inspiration 💜
So are you, Amanda😁😁😁
@warmheartedHuman836
Wow, thank you so much for sharing your story. Reading this really touched me — the way you turned such a painful and life-changing event into a life full of meaning and experiences is incredible. It makes me realize that even when things feel heavy, there is still a way forward, even if it looks different than I imagined. Your words give me hope and remind me to stop comparing myself to others. Truly grateful you took the time to write this to me. Respect to you and your journey!
You bet Dave. I have to be careful not to come across the wrong way, as if my life is harder silo don't be baby! Ha. Emotional pain is tough, and whose to say which of us has went through the hardest things emotionally? I am just older, more life experience. I have by increments gotten through my life pretty well though l wish l could time travel and fix a few things. But we only have now, to do anything. We can waste our time, and there is a place for that, but we also can challenge ourselves though we might not be the best! Be your best, that is all you need to do and there is no timeline. Just keep pushing forward aa you can. You will be successful! And that can mean a thousand things. Only YOU can make that determination. Not somebody born with a silver spoon where everything they touch seems to turn to gold. I have met such people who looked down their noses at me. Arrogant people! Very sad that they exist. But they do. No skin off my back though. Ha
