Grief
Hello, I've been grieving over the death of my first love. He was still so young, barely 25. It's only been a few days. I'm just figuring out ways to move forward although I don't think I'll ever learn how. I got so much love left and I have my family and friends supporting me. But my heart is so heavy with what could've beens. The future we could have had together. I wonder how people who experienced this kind of loss discovered how to move forward? Does healing get easier?

I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your first love. I can't fully understand what you're going through, but I recently lost my child, so I can relate to some extent. Losing someone we care about deeply is incredibly painful.
Everyone grieves in their own way, so there's no right or wrong way to navigate it. It's totally okay to feel a heavy heart and wonder about the future that could have been. Healing takes time, so be patient with yourself. Lean on your support system of family and friends who are there to offer love and understanding. And if you ever need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'm here for you, always up for a chat.
Healing has the potential to get better with time and support. While the pain of loss may never completely disappear, it can become more manageable as you learn to cope with your grief. As time passes, you may find that the intense emotions gradually become less overwhelming, and you are able to remember your loved one with less pain and more fondness.
Sending you virtual hugs :)

Thank you thank you for writing this. I'm so sorry for your loss. What an amazing human you are despite the pain. It is indeed incredibly painful. Grief is really something else, it's haunting and daunting. It's crippling.
I have been crying nonstop for days now when I heard the news from his family and close friends. What's sad is I haven't seen him in about a year due to his military training. I wasn't there in his last moments. There's this constant denial and self-blame, wishing I could have done something. Although the memorial services is still on going, I am not sure if I should go. I couldn't bear witness. I wanted to keep him alive in my memory and imagine he's not gone forever, but that he's just far away in some place and that we'll see each other again some time in a few years. But I'm afraid that I will regret not going and seeing him one last time. I do not know what I should do. I am completely lost. Should I be there?

I totally get it. I've been there, crying my heart out during times of grief. Grief can be so overwhelming and it's completely normal to feel haunted and overwhelmed by all the emotions that come with it. Please remember, it's not your fault. You couldn't have known what would happen. Grief often brings up these feelings of guilt and regret, but you need to be kind to yourself and remind yourself that you did the best you could given the circumstances.
As for attending the memorial services, it's a tough decision to make. It's okay to feel unsure and conflicted about going or not. Take some time to think about what feels right for you. Consider how attending might contribute to your healing process and how it might affect you emotionally. If you have a good support system, it might also help to talk to them for their thoughts and support while making this decision.
You need to do what feels most comfortable and supportive for you. Whether you decide to go or not, find your own ways to honor his memory and find solace. You could create personal rituals, cherish the memories you shared, or seek support from others who have experienced similar losses.
I know it feels like someone is shooting an arrow straight into your heart right now, and it hurts like ***. But trust me, with time, things will start to get better

Thank you for your kind words.
I did end up going to his memorial services. It was the hardest decision. I just bawled my eyes out and cried more on the way home. There was nothing I can do, it was out of my control. But I still couldn't quite understand why it had to happen to me. Of all people, why did it have to be someone I care for so deeply. It was too soon, too young. I wasn't ready, not yet. The loss affected me in ways I never thought it would. I just wanted to lay in bed all day and sleep just so I could see his familiar face in my dream. Even if it's only in my dream.
I don't know if it would make any difference, but I am planning on writing a letter to his parents when the time is right (I might wait until Christmas, I'm not sure when exactly), to express my gratitude and tell them the memorable moments I had with him that I never got to share. I don't know if that's even a good idea at all but I wanted to tell them somehow.
I hope healing gets easier from here. I don't really know how or where I'll draw the strength to do anything now, but I hope I can try.
