Heart Attack

Heart disease runs in my family and I'm just 25. I had a heart attack in the shower three months ago. I'm recovering ok physically from having an angioplasty, but emotionally, I'm still in a rut. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me, and I am constantly anxious. Also, I was naked when the ambulance arrived to rescue me, and I feel ashamed that so many people saw me that way. I just can't get the hospitalization and the entire incident out of my brain. I'm sorry... just had to vent

A heart attack can be a life-changing experience and in that setting you're right, the medical team is trying to get to the vital areas of treatment and often have don't have coverings as their first priority. I'm glad you were able to recover and that you're receiving care for it. Hope that it's a one time event and you'll continue to live with it on the afterburner.

@brightAcres9779 I am so sorry to hear that. It saddens me that you had a heart attack at such a young age. I can see how that would be traumatic for you but I am soooo glad that help was sought and you are ok. Be thankful your life was spared. I am so glad you are here and alive to be sharing your story. Please take care of yourself and do not be so hard on yourself. Those unfortunate events were outside of your control.

While having a heart attack can be distressing at any age, it is particularly traumatic for someone as young as 25. I would suggest discussing your health anxiety with your doctor, as well as any potential preventive measures to avoid it in the future. Regarding the shame, I'm sure that your family and/or anyone else present, along with the paramedics, were more worried about your immediate safety and health than they were about the fact that you were naked. I'm very happy you're still alive, and I'm hoping things will get better for you soon. You are strong :)

Although difficult, you can do it. I'm so happy you were able to get treatment and are still with us.

I'm really sad to hear this. Do not be afraid to ask for assistance, whether you need medical attention or simply someone to chat to. You deserve a safe place to express yourself because a heart attack can be quite traumatizing. Please do not worry about not having any coverings; the paramedics' first focus was likely to be getting you medical attention. I'm praying for you!
