Is seeking revenge a justified deed to do ,
@nyamwayamohamad There are cases and cases, but most of the time, you lose.
@nyamwayamohamad
No. Vengeance only ends up making you look like a fool.
@nyamwayamohamad absolutely not. By seeking revenge, you are then just as bad as the other person
remember 'a eye for a eye, makes the whole world go blind '
No, because it can leave you with nothing. If we forgive, we at least move on with our lives thinking it would get better at some point. If we seek revenge, we give even more space to people in our mind. The same people we wish to forget. So, it's not a healthy coping mechanism. Most often it only results in distress and the inability to move forward.
At some point, it is very important to realise that if someone hurts you then now the focus should be *you* for yourself and not them. (:
@nyamwayamohamad
Sigh.
I am a member and not listener, so I probably should refrain from advising.
Someone I know however, asked a similar question a few years ago. I understand and fear how potentially dangerous a thought like this may lead to.
We know what seeking revenge means, but what about 'justified deed'?
From whom would you look at to be justified? As the prepatrator? The victim? Or a witness to an injust?
This answer is not simple. And whatever your point of view is, intense emotions will almost cloud the better of your judgement.
I am but a voice on the Internet who do not know the injustice you refer to. Calling the elephant out in the room, it could be that you are angry with something another person has done onto you. Another guess, it might be linked to the ongoing conflicts happening in the Middle East.
Regardless of the above, please do ask yourself these questions:
1. At what cost will you give up - willing or unwillingly, to seek this revenge?
2. For what gain will you get in return, assuming revenge is sought successfully?
3. Will the act of seeking this revenge, trap you and others into a new and perpetual never ending cycle of violence, hurt and harm, to both yourself, your family, friends and that of the parties whom you may be thinking of to seek revenge on?
4. And if you have children, or plan to have children in the future.. Would it make you proud of yourself to tell your children what you are emotionally charged to consider doing i.e take revenge, is something you want them to grow up to believe is right? Would you want them to seek the same 'justified revenge', and then live with the enduring consequences of their action?
We pain and feel rage when others hurt us. In the real world outside of this forum, ugly episodes take place everyday. Sometimes people get hurt. Sometimes people die.
But if you put your heart in what most religions teach, it is that there is a higher order beyond humans.
If your faith in your religion is strong, then let the Higher Order return justice for you.
Be a better person than the prepatrator who inflicted harm and injustice. Do this not for others to see, but as proof you are the stronger person.
I stress again that I do not know the context behind your desire to seek revenge and from whom. Please however refrain from committing yourself to anything rash, and become the exact person whom you so loathe right now.
May Peace be with you. And may you choose to be the better person.
@nyamwayamohamad
It's justifiable but never the right thing to do.
@nyamwayamohamad I don't think so - sure you can feel relieved after that, but it's not forever and you'll regret it eventually. I think the best response is indifference and aknowledge that you're better that that.
@nyamwayamohamad Not sure what qualifies as "justified" in your sense of morality, but keep in mind that if you decide on revenge, two possibilities are immediately operative:
- You can get caught. In most countries--certainly in all civilized ones--revenge in most forms is against the law. Local, state, & federal/central governments have an army of police & agents at their disposal for the specific purpose of catching people who break the law. Point is, whatever you're considering, realize that you could get caught & go to jail or prison.
- If you don't get caught & the offending party knows what you did to him/her/them or figures it out, (s)he/they may strike back. Then you will have a battle on your hands & you could lose, which means winding up dead or crippled for life.
Do consider the above points before proceeding.
