Just got job rejection

Hi, to anyone reading this, thank you so much for having me here.

I'll go by the name romanceDawn, my real name is "Dawn" translated into my country's language. I'm a 22 y.o. Currently still in the last semester of college while also trying to build a career as a designer, mainly in UI/UX and web design.

I joined this platform about an hour ago because I just got a rejected offer for an internship position that I made through a technical test and interview stage last week. Honestly, I've been waiting for this announcement this whole week because the recruitment session feels like it's going nice and I'm so confident that they will take me to join their team.

I know I should never hope for things that I can't control, I know that pretty well, but, it's just a hard, uneasy feeling to be rejected, especially when I am just one step away.

For an additional story, it's not like I get a rejected email. I knew about my rejection because I saw someone on LinkedIn posting that they just got that position. When I was interviewing last week, the recruiter indeed said that the announcement would be in the next week and that's why I was waiting for it until it never came and I saw that post on LinkedIn.

I know this is a simple story, I was going through various rejections before and I know you guys here also may experience the same. But, it's still hurt. I was hoping for it, I was so confident because I excelled at the technical test and the interview. But, yeah, what can I do?

I know my skill is still low, I know I need to keep practising and don't lose hope. But sometimes, seeing other people, who if I may say, have a lower qualification than me, getting more opportunities, it just makes me feel sad. I know what I should do which is to keep going but, I need to talk like this and seek feedback. I don't know, I just want to express my feelings. Thanks for reading this long.

I talked about this and my struggle to find jobs for various people, like my girlfriend, my close friend, and even my mentor. Their advice is just the same mostly, as we know this current economy is bad and many companies are not hiring positions publicly, or even when they do, the applicants are so massive. I know that pretty well, though I still need to improve my skills.

I don't know what to say, I just feel so sad and want some support. I hope by writing this I can read what you think and you can respond all you want to me. I know in the end I should keep going no matter what especially for things that are out of my control. Well, I hope the best for me.

Thanks for reading. Have a nice day!

@romanceDawn9k

rejections are tough and its oaky to be sad.

i m on similar boat its just i have 5 years of experience and my skills and market interview demands are not aligning properly i may have working knowledge as i have worked in a very toxic environment but i havent used fancy tools that are available in market or dont have same linguistics as they have and all i can do is prepare for interviews and hope someone findme useful in their organization. i recently was layedoff from an organization to which i gave my 5 years. so dont worry about companies and just work on your skills and good side projects thats the only contollable thing there is.

i know my response is not exactly any help, i just felt like if i be honest about my situtation u might not feel bad about feeling sad/ and having expectations from interview which went well because thats very natural. you are not alone in this journey🌻🌻

I understand you, i also get soo much rejections in my life, they werent the same, but i totally understand you, and if theres one thing ive understood, its that if something doesnt work out, it would be nice to sit down and think about how to make it work out, change the plan of action, and keep working, im sure youre all over the same, for example, Jack Ma received 30 job refusals, he was one of 24 candidates for a job at kfc, where all 23 except him were accepted. And then he founded alibaba and aliexpress, i wish you find your dream job❤️

@romanceDawn9k Sending you lots of hugs <3 <3 <3

I've experienced several rejections in my life and it does hurt, sometimes it's really painful especially if there is something that reminds you of the rejection. And it does really make you doubt yourself. In other cases, it's probably not just for me and then I will get something that is much more better or if not better, I will hear a bad news regarding on the thing that I used to chase and thought "Did I just dodged a bullet?" 🤔 and immediately forget and laugh about it when I recall it.

For now, give yourself a break. It's nice that you decided to seek support here, the last thing you would want is to let doubt seep into your mind. You did what you can and you tried your best. I understand that you need to make a living and you need a job but at times like this, please don't forget yourself. Once you've collected yourself, that's when you continue to keep going~
