Moving from Abroad
Hello,
I am soon going to move away from London to my home country. I will leave a job that I love and that is giving me good money. I studied in the UK with my girlfriend but she doesn't want to stay in London and she left back to our country because she found a good (5 months ago). I have been working in London for about 4 years in total. I found a good job in our country now so I can be with me girlfriend. Objectively, the job will be a step up for my career but for far less pay. Although still about twice the median salary in my country. I can see myself grow in the current company in London and earn more money and get more experience in the future.
I am worried that by coming back home, I am missing out on potential and abandoning lot of years of dedication of being away and working towards my career. I am worried I am making a wrong decision. My whole family keeps telling me that I am crazy to come back which only stregthens this feeling. I love my girlfriend and we have been together for a number of years. I am just worried that I am moving to a worse life and I could potentially be better placed in London.
Any opinions on this will be appreciated, thank you very much.
I think you better ask your girlfriend. You are doing this for her. If you go back for her and couldn't be happy because of this, then what is the point in this decision. So you let her know this is what you feel, and take a decision.
Hey. Seems like you found yourself in tough spot. It depends on your priorities to be honest. I have taken a similar decision this year. I moved back for a relationship which ended in the blink of an eye. But at the same time I keep my focus on my priorities which is family and relationships. Gender roles might also play a role. So choose according to your priorities in life. Good luck with your decision. I hope you find happiness in whatever you do.
