Need Advice About Ex-Friend

One of my ex best friends. We were best friends while I was going through my divorce with my first husband. We lived together, did everything together. We were inseparable. She was kind of my soulmate in best friend form, or so I thought. I was with a guy for a few months and I caught them talking behind my back. She was logged in on MY phone on messenger talking to him. I forgave them both. Not long after, she made a fake social media profile without me knowing, to “prove” he would not be faithful still. He did start talking to the fake page and she kinda rubbed it in my face. Fast forward a little, She got fired from her job and I couldn’t afford living with someone who was jobless so I moved out. We kinda went our separate ways, she got on drugs, and then came back around. Added me back on social media, then a few months later deleted me. I asked her why and she said “I get sick of seeing how happy you are.” She came back around again later on, every time I tried to hang out, the day of, she’d blow me off. When I saw her one day a couple years ago, it had been a while. She looked like she was back on drugs. and I was trying to ask “when did you get this new car” but as soon as the word “when” came out of my mouth, she said “NO I’m not hanging out with you.” Cuz she thought I was going to ask that.

Every time I see her on my feed, it does nothing but bring back memories of how horrible of a friend she always was. She gets tagged in posts by other girls that I guess she will hang out with because they probably are into the stuff she’s into, as I think she’s on drugs again. It kinda bothers me since she won’t give me the time of day. I guess we just went down different paths. But my question is, I’ve been going to therapy and it’s been brought up some. Is it bad of me or petty of me to delete her off of my social medias, I guess to kinda let go of the past?

I do not want to message her. I think it will just give me more anxiety and stress me out. she will also treat me like my feelings are stupid. I just need advice on how to handle the situation.

Hi there @LimpSketti91 I hope you're well,

It's important to prioritize your own well-being and mental health. If seeing her on social media triggers negative emotions and memories, it's perfectly reasonable to remove her from your social media accounts. You don't need to explain or justify your decision to her. It's a step towards letting go of the past and focusing on your own healing. If you feel that messaging her would cause you anxiety and stress, then it's best to avoid it and take care of yourself. Remember, you have the right to make choices that benefit your emotional health.

It sounds like you've been through a lot with her, and her actions have really hurt you. It's important to prioritize yourself and do what feels right for you when it comes to keeping or cutting off connections. If deleting her from your social media accounts helps you move on and let go of the past, then go for it. You have every right to create a positive online space for yourself. And if reaching out to her would just bring you more stress and anxiety, it might be best to hold off. Trust your instincts and focus on surrounding yourself with supportive people who uplift you
