Overthinking (Me overthinking about overthinking!)
If you can overthink the worst why cant you overthink the best. When you overthink the best your most likely going to get disappointment whenever it didn't go that way. And when you overthink the worst you get scared of doing that thing to begin with. We overthink the worst to protect ourselves from all the possible things that could go wrong. Your brain thinks bad experiences are something you can learn from and therefore plays them over and over again and again to protect you from getting hurt again. Overthinking can feel like its protecting you but it can also hurt you. The problem is, overthinking traps us in fear and stress. It makes small problems feel huge, keeps us stuck in our head, and stops us from enjoying the moment or taking chances. It makes you stress and worry about the things that might happen. If you overthink the best your setting yourself up for disappointment, and causing pressure. Overthinking the worst makes you scared. Overthinking the best makes you disappointed. Either way, your brain is stuck spinning in what-ifs instead of living right now.
When you notice yourself overthinking (Best or worst) pause and think if its helpful or just spinning in your head. Ask yourself, does this really matter or am I just spiraling? Focus on what you can control right now instead of imagining every possible outcome. You cant just stop overthinking, but you can control what you focus on. There's no need to cause unnecessary stress, worry, or disappointment. Ground yourself-Take a break, distract yourself, notice things around you. Remember overthinking wont help anything, don’t let yourself get lost in perfect or terrible scenarios. 💜
