Overwhelming feelings
Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well. I’m Lena, and this is my first post so I'm kinda anxious.
I’m really struggling with something that’s hard to explain. As an HSP, I’ve always been more sensitive to things around me, but lately, it’s gotten really overwhelming.
I constantly feel an intense need to be completely alone—not just in a quiet room, but like I’m the only person in the world (which is completely impossible, I know).
For example, I recently went on a family trip for four days, and by the second day, I felt so overwhelmed and desperate for solitude that I became emotional and irritable. I couldn’t enjoy anything because all I could think about was how badly I needed to be alone.
Being around others drains me, and even talking feels exhausting. Sometimes, I just don’t want to interact with anyone at all because it feels like too much effort.
You can call me dramatic but It’s gotten so bad that I sometimes feel like there’s no way out. I don’t know why I feel this way, but it’s like a craving I can’t ignore.
As a teenager, I feel so misunderstood when talking about this. Almost everyone I've been talking to about this called me dramatic or says it will go away and honestly, I just don't know what to do with this feeling.
Has anyone else who’s an HSP experienced this, or do you have advice for coping? If you’ve been through something like this or have advice, I’d really appreciate hearing it. Thank you for reading.
