Picky eater
Hi there,
I have autism (diagnosed) so I've always been an incredibly picky eater since a child. I live off of cereal and chicken and occasionally a few other things. My dietician commented that he thoguht the milk from the cereal was the inly thing keeping me going.
However birds are my favourite animals. I love them so much and the guilt from eating chicken has always torn me to shreds but now its at its worst. I can't eat it without feeling terrible. But I rely on chicken for the meat, chicken paste, chicken sandwiches, fried chicken, chicken nuggets, chicken sticks, etc. If I remove chicken from my menu it's going to seriously decrease what I can actually eat and that will be disastrous if I just turn 100% to cereal.
I've been wondering about the new plant based meats. Do they taste like chicken? I know there aren't many options so I won't be able to replace every chicken type of food but the main one will be better than nothing. Does plant based meat taste like the real thing?

Hey there! Chicken is a good source of protein and a lot of minerals/vitamins that you won't normally find somewhere else so you are right in the sense that taking out of your diet can limit some nutritional intake. In regards to plant based chicken there are various brands out there! However in regards of the taste it can be a little trial and error. Many plant based chickens that I've tried really don't taste like chicken, some taste like chicken but don't have the same texture, others I couldn't tell the difference. Of course there are personal preferences as well. Also try experimenting with different sauces or condiments! I find that they sometimes make unsavory tastes more bearable.

Hi there, I've tried MANY different fake meat options and some are truly disgusting (especially when it comes to burgers and sausages). When it comes to chicken though, especially chicken nugget form, there are some great options that could totally fool a meat-eater. You can find them at Walmart, Target, etc. The 3 Brands I buy are: Quorn, Impossible, and Caulipower. Don't knock it until you try it! Hope you enjoy them, bye!

@SkylusWing as another autistic person I was drawn to your post. I was trying to see if I needed to make a new post and unfortunately I still do as I don't relate to this.
I am able to eat a big variety of things but I'm struggling to eat the healthy things of that big list and still keep my variety. Good luck with your issue though! Hope you find a good solution. It sucks being autistic struggling to eat healthy and proper amounts AND with vareity.
