Preventing Gossip, Harassment, "Bullying"...One Step At A Time
What is gossip?
💖-casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true.
Gossip is when members or friends talk about one another or someone else and provide details and stories about that person that is NOT true. This is something that happens quite often in the real world and online! This is our first step: preventing gossip from happening. If you see or hear anything that is related to another person, do not engage with the topic but perhaps leave the situation and or report/screenshot.
What is Harassment?
-Verbal abuse is a type of psychological/mental abuse that involves the use of oral, gestured, and written language directed to a victim. Verbal abuse can include the act of harassing, labeling, insulting, scolding, rebuking, or excessive yelling towards an individual....
As the gossip becomes more escalated, verbal harassment and false truths are more prominent and this leads to verbal harassment, where conflicts begin and "he said, she said" becomes more intrusive, lies are formed to protect a person initiating gossip, and also the person being talked about soon loses trust in others and themselves.

1. Tell Them to Stop
Writing a clear message to the bully telling them not to contact you again probably won’t prevent them from attempting to bully you further, but it does help when you present evidence to the authorities.
2. Don't Respond to the Bully (Ignoring them gives them NO power of you)
Cyberbullies, and bullies in general, thrive off of fear and negative responses to their abuse. By not responding, you may not completely end the bullying, but there is the chance that they will get bored with you and your lack of response.
3. Make Copies of All Contact with the Bully (Very Important)
You cannot make a case to the authorities about a bully if you have no physical evidence to support your claim. Take screenshots, copy the messages to a document, print them out, etc. It’s always best to have hard copies anyway, in case something happens to your computer/phone.
4. Block the Bully
Remove their contact information from your phone/computer/social media/etc. They can’t bother or abuse you if they can’t reach you.
5. Report the Bully to the Authorities
If you feel that you are being bullied by someone either online or in real life, its best to advocate and speak to someone outside of the situation. Here on 7cups we have hard working admin that can listen to your report ticket and or Comm Mods, Mods to help you in your situation.
