Really starting to hate the internet
The internet will give you ADHD or just annoy you to death!
Imagine visiting a friends house and after walking in the door some small child dressed in a lawyer suit follows you around with a plate of fricken cookies and keeps trying to pull personal papers out of your pocket while asking you to sign a waver! He shouts, “we use cookies at this house, do you want all these cookies or just the strictly necessary cookies?” You try to walk around and ignore him but he just keeps showing up in your path. Finally you manage to greet the home owner, the person you came to visit. You start up a conversation and just when it gets interesting his daughter jumps right in front of you with green and purple flashing hair and waves her arms frantically screeching “give me your email and save 15%”. Fortunately you find the X button hidden deep in her flashing neon hair, and after fumbling through strands of it, you push the X button and she disappears. You sigh in relief and rejoin the conversation with the host. But every 30 seconds or so some other annoying kid runs between you and you almost spill your drink or choke on an hors d’oeuvre. This continues for the entir conversation.
Finally you leave for home exhausted. The host asks you to return. You think, “For this kind of frustration? Not unless I absolutely have to.” The host laughs an evil laugh, saying, “You’ll be back, I know you have to!”

Let's not forget the comment threads. Jesus & Moses in a Cadillac, the friggin' comment threads!... Whoever came up with the saying "nothing good ever came from reading the comments" has to be one of the wisest people currently drawing breath. The only way to survive it is to not take most of what people say online too seriously. Any post about current events--whether it's political or not--inevitably draws in the mutually opposing tribes. Red vs blue, liberal vs conservative, etc. The usual mudslinging, sloppy argumentation & logical fallacies ensue. They're often attended by the smattering of various other extremists, all of whom follow ideologies that wouldn't work for a village of 300 people let alone a nation of 340 million+ (the US)!
One of the mixed blessings of the Internet: It introduces you to people who you would never want to meet in person. 😏
