Have you heard of Chris Ulmer and Special Books for Special Kids?
Chris interviews those with physical and mental differences: people with autism, craniofacial differences, cerebral palsy, rare diseases, Down syndrome, limb differences, burn survivors, Tourette's, brain injuries, and more. These kids (they're mostly kids, if not all) are so sweet and have so much love to give... And people reject them and turn away.
We, on 7Cups, must choose.
We must CHOOSE these children. Love them. Watch the videos. Hear their stories.
And get out there and love the people around us who look or act like they do.
They are people too.
Worthy of love. Worthy of being understood and appreciated for who they are.
Worthy of being seen. And hugged. And spoken to. And treated as human.
So here's my challenge to you...
Go on YT and search "Special Books for Special Kids". Watch one video per day for the next month. Not just videos about people with things you're familiar with, like autism, perhaps, but focus on the people with disabilities you've never heard of before, like Crouzon Syndrome.
Learn who they are. See the person beyond the disability. See all their love and how they are changing, and will change, the world.

Cassius and Harper are two cool kids! Cassius likes Trolls (I see a pattern with these kiddos! hehe), and Harper loves making people laugh! They are the only known family to have two de novo disorders (AKA disorders that are not inherited), and both disorders are rare and different from each other. Their older sister, Madison, absolutely adores both of them, and the bond between them is so sweet <3

Pearce is 20 and is an absolute sweetheart! He has cerebral palsy, loves music and football, communicates through a button/computer device, and is just a normal 20 year old man with a body that won't cooperate.
As Pearce says, "It's a difficult life, but I love living it!" <3

@jesusredeemedme2425 I have never seen the channel. Will definitely look it up. I can't agree with you more about loving and caring for them. I am interested in working to make better surroundings for those with disabilities and different conditions. I have done a few projects too. In one project, 10 students (different people each week) from our school went to the local special needs school every Monday for 2 hours. to read, play, sing, dance and act our dramas for the children. It was an absolutely wonderful and heartwarming experience
I have blocked youtube for 6 days a week to stop addiction🥲😔. So won't be able to join the challenge. But will watch a video each week

Matt has PTSD, and his PTSD is only a small part of him. It does not define him, and the stereotypes about it aren't true <3 He doesn't want to be seen as his diagnosis, but as... Matt. <3

I just visited a school for autistic and down syndrome children yesterday, it was my second visit, and the purpose for the day was to go with a community of professional experts who would conduct a parents counseling session. It's just one in a series of collaborative initiatives we've planned to do with them.... for them. We're also re-vamping their website that needs a lot of work. And there's much more in the pipeline. In these 2 day, I already learnt quite a few NEW things about these special individuals. They're not all kids. Some are in their early 20s. Some are teens. And it was so eye opening to discover their abilities and potentials. I learnt so much from the psychologists who were counseling their parents on various topics. I learnt while interacting with those special individuals, they're not different from us at all... they just express differently, and well, don't we ALL express differently? I learnt how to speak with them mist effectively, what to avoid saying to them, how not to react in certain situations, and I received a lot of hugs and kisses from them. It is my absolute privilege to be associated with such an initiative.
