I’ve been thinking a lot about forgiveness lately. especially about how people say you have to forgive in order to heal. But I don’t think that’s true, at least not for me.

My parents abused me when I was younger. It’s something that still affects me, even now. And people love to say, “They’re still your parents,” or “You’ll feel better if you forgive them.” But they don’t know what it was like. They didn’t live through it.

I don’t want to forgive them. Maybe one day I’ll feel differently, but right now, I don’t owe forgiveness to people who never took responsibility for what they did. Am I a terrible person?

@RobinIsHere21

🥺

You are not a terrible person.

You are allowed to feel what you do

The people who are meant to care for you and love you the most hurt you in the worst way possible.

People who say forgive, haven't a clue, they didn't go through it.

Forgiveness is personal, it's for you, not for them, nothing ever makes up for what they did.

But you deserve to heal and to see, it was not your fault.

You owe them nothing 💜💕
