Trauma Related Anxiety

A month ago, while eating dinner with my fiance', I crossed paths with an insect of some kind, it got into my throat, I attempted another bite, and suddenly, I was involuntarily spatting and whatever it was, left..

Since then, I've been hyperaware of bugs, insects of any flying variety. And as that form of anxiety has seemed to lessen .. in the past weeks I've experienced significant anxiety related to intrusive thoughts, personal safety, a fear that maybe I'm not well enough to socialize with others .. It has gotten so bad that I haven't know what to do when this paranoid fear overwhelms me.

In the last two days mind you, these thoughts haven't flitted into my brain. And.. I don't feel 1000% okay, but I just .. Please tell me someone else out there has felt as I do.. Has experienced some kind of trauma related anxiety that they got through.

Thanks.

@Txbredbookworm

Hello, The symptoms you are talking about resemble my PTSD symptoms. I get paranoid for no reason and I have always been the type to trust my gut instincts, but now if I do I experience real fear. I needed to learn to talk myself through these situations in a logical manner. I'll tell myself its just another moment, "I need to talk myself through it", and so I look at it in a different light, and logically tell myself its not a real danger, and this is a nice town, and these are friendly people. I use distractions as a coping tool such as my cellphone, texting, researching, looking at my photo gallery ect. Some deep breaths or a change in location sometimes is best for me. I have been in war, and had several near death experiences that had nothing to do with the military. I take medications for my issues, and I've been in therapy now for almost going on 5 years, and I got involved in art therapy also. Tag me any time if you want to chat. I'd say more but I have a busy day tomorrow. Have a good night!

Blessings, Day
