Weirdly-Normal-Crazy
Hello I'm Nick, I don't post much so I'll share a few of my experiences and with (ASD).
When I was six years old I would help my dad holding a flashlight or running to grab a tool even though sometimes I would return with the wrong tool I was amazed over car's i sometimes visualized what the inside would look like, like the engine transmission exhaust or differential.
Than one day at school my teacher in my class handed all the students drum sticks and asked us what they we're used for, must of my class answer the obvious, "drum sticks" but I said, "windshield wipers". I didn't understand why everyone saw drum sticks.
Fast-forwarding to when I was 10-14 y.o. When I was in elementary School I started counting my step, and I would repeat actions or words, but my biggest problem was social interactions I always carried my head down and would avoid eye contact with everyone, later around 14 y.o. I was diagnosed with Asperger's which is now known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Around that same time my step mom hated me I took emotional abuse from her and I won't go into details, later afterwards i dropped out of school because of my step mom. I struggle getting through my teens and to my adulthood and I guess at some point my mind blocked it out the trauma and I'm now 34 y.o. and in a relationship with my girlfriend.
I still have a hard time with social interaction and I get extreme headaches with noises, and when I'm thinking of something and someone starts talking to me it's so annoying like when I'm whistling to a song on the radio while driving and my girlfriend starts talking to me about a topici have zero interest in, I get frustrated but not with her just my brain.
Since discovering that i was diagnosed after a conversation with my mother i have been paying attention to myself and the things i been doing since i was a kid like playing with my hair, drumming my finger or fidgeting, i always assumed i was crazy, but no, just weirdly normal crazy.
