@YummyCookies

If I feel anxious I usually go for a walk or do a mindfulness exercise. Taking some time to focus on your body instead of your mind may help relieve anxiety. Getting some quick exercise can help boost mood and calm the mind. Sometimes I also write down my thoughts. Writing down what’s making you anxious gets it out of your head and can make it less daunting.

This sounds so good! However for me personally, going alone would just give me more time to ruminate on my anxious thoughts so going with friends would work better.

Ranting to a trusted friend always helps me! I also read books to relax and stay calm.

Tbh I'm not the best at coping with my anxiety, but what really helps me is music and deep breathing. The music I listen too is usually something familiar that I know and I play it really loudly in my earphones so I can stop thinking and just focus on the lyrics or the music if it's in a different language. Deep breathing really helps with calming myself and lowering my heartbeats and hyperventilation. I also gives me a moment to put a situation or act in perspective and be more logical about it instead of emotional. Thinking logically helps me decrease my anxiety, but doesn't always help depending on the situation.

So in summary, my ways to cope: music and deep breathing to help calm my thoughts.

@YummyCookies I dip my face into a bowl of ice water.. It's really relaxing... you could play music during it.. it takes my mind off of whatever it is thats making me anxious.. the cold snaps me back into reality and away from my thoughts..

I’m rather prone to severe anxious episodes. I also happened to be an author in the past. I find it nice to bypass the completely overwhelming anxious thoughts by picturing a scene with one of my favourite characters and walking through it in my head. Sometimes I cannot door but when I do it isn’t very effective.
