Just an EMT performing CPR in hopes of getting a pulse
Hello everyone! I just found out about this forum earlier and I think it's pretty much needed! But to my disappointment it wasn't at all active so I'm trying to get it back to life.
A quick introduction about me: I'm a high school student aiming for med school. Currently working as an EMT to gain the required pre uni experience.
I really like being an EMT. It has helped me become a totally different person..wiser, more mature, calm in disasters and so on. I love the team spirit, patient interactions, the feeling of actually helping and so much more! If you ask me to list them, I won't be done tonight.
Of course everything has disadvantages and so does my job. The main disadvantage is the back pain I developed at a young age...just kidding. The true disadvantage is the few scenarios I dealt with which I'll never forget. In this case I'm talking about traumatising ones. And by traumatising, I don't mean car crashes and such stuff. I'm talking about scenarios which would keep you awake at night and would give you nightmares for years. Luckily I can move on...but I never forget. We could always leave the scene, but the scene never leaves us.
I'd really like to meet people with similar experiences so please don't let this post just fly with the wind. I hope it's the spark that would light up this forum...or should I say the CPR that will hopefully bring it back to life.
