I fear I cannot escape this isolation or endure

I have been completely alone since becoming a single mom. I have had some horrific experiences in life but nothing compares to the pain I feel as a mother. The love is so amazing! It's to strong for me and have spent seven years in fear and pain.

I just want to give my daughter love that she needs and support her growth and life. Every child deserves that. I'm not expecting perfection from myself but my daughter needs someone good for her. I'm in such a panic to provide for her emotionally and I take parenting classes and utilize resources, books, etc. I think I am realizing that I am not benefiting her and in seven years i'm further away from catching up to her growth and needs. I feel like i've been grieving. Why is my love useless?

@helloCircle5367 Well, advice from a woman being raised by a single mother .. don't try to live your lost dreams through your daughter or have high expectations. Let her be who she wants to be. My mother was emotionally unavailable my entire childhood and teen years, but she criticized everything I did b/c she had dreams for me since she screwed up herself. It hurt me a lot, so I rebelled, and learned how to push my own feelings to the side and I became a very cold person. I love people and I care, but I don't know how to say it. My mother never showed me. So, don't think you have to be the perfect mother! Just love your daughter and show her how to be a loving, caring, and happy person. Don't be a negative and heartless person like my mom.

@helloCircle5367 Your love is not useless. If you treat your daughter with affection and respect, nothing you do for her is useless. She is very lucky to have you, a very dedicated person, as a mother. Even if you find it hard to take new steps, your heart is in the right place. You try your hardest for your child. This is what matters. If you keep working as hard as you are now, you'll get there. I know sometimes things might seem hopeless, but try to take strengh from the people in your life that you love.
