Procrastination!!!

I have suffered from procrastination all my life, for as long as I can remember. I truly believe it is the underlying cause of my depression and anxiety. I have tried (not really) working on it, but it seems like I just don't know where to begin. There are so many changes that I want to make in my life, but I don't know where to start. And because I can't determine the perfect place to start, I don't start anywhere. I say, well, I will start on Monday, but then I don't. How do I get past this?

I'm also interested in this. The person I talk to for treatment always says "can you just break things down into smaller tasks?" I'm just like, "I guess" but even that is difficult.

I know how you feel, as I feel the same. My therapist tells me to take small steps, breaking an activity in smaller parts. She also says that I should put alarms on my cellphone to remind me of these small parts, and that I need to start to do them immediately, without thinking, so my mind won't have time to give me reasons not to. She told me that I should set a schedule, work for 25 minutes, rest fort 5, then starting again. It's the Pomodoro Technique.

The problem is: we think about doing something, then our mind tells not to do, that we can leave it for later, that it's too difficult or tiresome, and we just give up without even trying.

But it's easier said than done... I'm just trying my best and being thankful for every small thing I manage to do.

I haven't really gotten techniques before or even bothered to look it up, just have lived with it...But I'll try to remember those :)
