Replaying A Song In My Head - It Won't Stop
Hello,
This may sound trite or funny, but I have had a song playing in my head for 2 weeks. Its usually the first thing in my head when I wake up and last when I go to sleep. Parts of the song just start over and over. It is not healthy and can drive a person mad. This has never happened for this long before. I am able to replace it for some hours of the day with somthing else but it starts up again, as clear as a bell.
I worked at the location showing the movie and playing the song (4 showings this month) so I had to be there. The man in charge warned the audience that they may go home with the song in their head, but I had no idea.
The fact that it is a very emotional sad song along with the emotional movie makes it so much worse for someone already having depression.
I searched the internet and tried various methods to no avail. I'm susceptable to this kind of thing. I will tell the song and movie if anyone here would like to know. I didn't know if it is relevant to the problem. In my case it very much is. It is playing right now....
Hello! I found that stress, memories, and triggers may cause songs to get stuck in your head. If this problem continues or causes any problems it may be a good idea to talk to someone about it. I hope this helps!
It eventually went away. I hope I can hear that song again and enjoy it without it repeating. I does point out the time does heal all wounds. The universe is set up that way. I also learned that when you are having a very emotional time and music or a song plays it can connect the two. Sometimes good, sometims bad.

I'll give you my opinion on this, I don't know if there's scentific background on this but.. here it goes!
I usually find myself doing the exact same thing with songs I feel a connection, just like you. The song replays over and over in your head because you associate it with a certain feeling, and that feeling can bring memories. Basically what I'm saying is that it can be a trigger. And not just for 2 weeks but all your life , you can be chilling on a mall and you feel something and the lyrics come to your head. At least this is what I experience.
My advice is to adress that issue. Since the song you say is related to your depression and since you can't avoid it, my advice is to just flat out admit "this is related to my depression" and you have to work on the issue. If you are currently having help with your depression then for sure open about it. If not, try to find coping mechanisms for it.
I hope I helped. I'm not sure if you'll relate to this or find anything that helps but I thought my experience could help you. Best of luck :)

Yes, you have to be someone who can't turn off sounds. For example some coworkers and I went to lunch at Cheesecake Factory. The place is very noisey, but I quoted to them what song is playing. Someone said you can hear that? I said yes and the last four songs as well and named them all.
It's not a talent and benefits me in no way except to make me more irritable than the average Joe. I wish I could turn it off. Now I work at facilities that host events such as weddings. I'm convinced DJs are almost deaf due to how loud they play. I also know just about every line dance tune and gimmicky songs played at weddings.
I know I shouldn't let anything so stupid bother me and basically I deal with it. I talk to people and change my frame of thinking.
