Hello! I am new cheeky

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 and a half years, living together for 10 months. I am 20 and he is 21. The majority of our relationship has been a struggle. This is his first long term relationship and so he often says he is learning.

We both suffered from depression and anxiety before the relationship which has gotten progressively worse for both of us throughout the relationship. There are a lot of issues that we say will improve when were both better mentally:

-We smoke weed every day if we can. If we cant afford it, we will both get irritable with each other and I can even get suicidal. We have tried detoxing but his will power is worse than mine and when he caves, I cant bare to miss out while he is smoking it.

-We never have sex. I was his first. He has always said that he is self conscious about what he is doing and saying while we are having sex and so he never initiates it. When I initiate it, he is up for it at first but then becomes awkward and shut off and I find it hard to even be turned on. I have given it my everything to reassure him that what he's doing is enough.

-We both have terrible work lives. He is always late and off sick, hes now been warned that he will lose his job next time hes off sick. Recently, I cant hold down a job because Im so anxious. Naturally, we are both completely broke.

-Neither of us have friends because we moved into a rural town and spend our time and money on getting high. So we never go out and are together all the time.

-The housework is never done. I try my hardest but I cant do it all on my own. He reminds me of a child in the way that he wont proactively help out, he has to be asked.

-He can't focus on anything and I've tried for the entirety of the relationship to help him get his words out when he's talking about his emotions. Now I wonder if he's just unintelligent and our conversations will never be stimulating because he can never find the sincerity or passion.

We have decided that well put our belongings into storage and separately move back to our parents so we can focus on ourselves before moving out again to somewhere closer to family. But now Im wondering if this is enough. Im not sure if I love him anymore and even if I do, I cant help but think that we are lost causes together. He talks about the fact hell have more money to buy weed when hes at his mums again and it makes me think hell never stop smoking even though I want us both to. I have family in the police and I cant carry on the way I am. Due to my anxiety, I am always looking for approval and I'm always worried my parents think I've failed and they don't even know the half of it.

Bring me your honest opinions please! I need it. Thank you for reading

@m00nandstars

The way you describe your boyfriend he sounds so much like me at that age it's spooky, (except the weed part I get sick when I smoke weed). I say don't give up on the relationship yet unless you really think that it is for the best. I don't think that he is unintelligent I've always had the same problem it's like a mental block, you know what you want to say but when you go to speak it all just vanishes from your mind or else it just all gets jumbled up. I've gotten a little better at expressing my self verbally over the years but I still can't express myself when speaking as well as I can writing. Feel free to massage me any time to pick my brain I should be able to give you some insight to your boyfriend if he is as much like me as he sounds. Any way I wish you luck and happiness.
