I've been living with DID for over a year now and it's getting incredibly difficult. I wondered if anyone else was out there. We are a system of eight currently.

Hi @LexiBella, welcome to 7 Cups!

I personally don't have Dissociative Identity Disorder, but there are a few subforum sections where you can find people you relate to. There is the Dissociation & DID community in the Trauma category, and also the Personality Disorder category, if you want a more broad category. I hope that in one of these forum sections, you will be able to find other people who can relate to your experiences and provide support if/when needed.

@LexiBella Oh I saw an episode of Law and Order SVU and there was a lady on there w/DID and one of her "identities" was the bad person. Are you seeing a psychiatrist? That is a hard problem to deal with. You need to talk to a professional.

@TransAm85 portrayals like that are actually quite negative to us with DID. Most of don't have an "evil alter". I was diagnosed over a year ago by a Dr. Colin Ross, a psychiatrist. I have a therapist and a psychiatrist. Both are wonderful and work with all my parts.
