Heart Attack, High BP, or Anxiety Attack?
I am curious if anyone has any experience w/a heart attack, anxiety attack, or high blood pressure? My husband is a very old fashioned person and doesn't care too much for doctors and/or prescription medication. He believes in herbal remedies. But he does take meds for blood pressure and acid reflux and was suggested to take anxiety meds, but refused. Well, he has had these weird episodes the past two days where he gets dizzy, cold, and feels unable to drive or make decisions on his own cept telling me he won't go to the doctor! He just lays down in our office, drinks a lot of water, and waits for it to pass. The past 2 days also, he gets so anxious before going to work, so I wonder if this is an anxiety attack? Or, maybe his blood suger b/c he is at risk for diabetes b/c it's in his family, plus he's an alcoholic. I am just wondering if anyone has ever had a heart attack/anxiety attack and how did you feel? My husband is too stubborn to go see a doctor and I have to learn some things about these issues before it is too late!
He really must see a doctor. There is no way that any of us here can guess what might be the cause of hiw symptoms, and to even try wouyld be irresponsible for members or Listeners. I am a healthcare professional of over 33 years, and I can say with all honesty and love - it may be too late if you don't insist that he get checked out by a professional. Ther are natural medicine doscors and perhaps he would be more willing to see someone who practices holistic medicine. I wish you both well.
@MusicCandy Thanks .. I was wondering if these symptoms sounded familiar to anyone that has had a heart attack, high blood pressure, or severe anxiety that's all. I have never seen any to any extreme cept w/my mom, but I was very young when she had her heart attack. I don't remember everything. My husband is just so stubborn! But thank you anyway.
I'm unable to answer the stated question. But I thought I'd chime in bc I'm the same same way as your Husband. I will not go to a Doctor PERIOD. Haven't been in 10+ years. I even tuffed out a kidney stone attack, curled in the fetal position on my bedroom floor (all night)
I'm not implying this is smart. Just pointing out some ppl do feel as your Husband does. He's not the only one
@ChromeLotus Kidney stones are horrible! My older brother had those and waited it out awhile b/c he didn't have insurance, but eventually went to ER b/c it was so painful! I really don't understand the logic of refusing to see a doctor? My husband is almost 40 years old and he apparrently grew up when Dr's still could make house calls? He states his entire family had 1 doctor. But he says this whole new generation is filled with "quacks" who throw pills down people's throats for every little thing. Yet, he will take the acid reflux and cholesterol pills religiously! I don't know .. I am just really worried. And you need to see a doctor as well! Kidney stones are not a joke!
I know what you are saying Chrome, and I see all kinds of people in my work. Everyone has free choice and no one can be forced to see a doctor, but I can say that there are compassionate doctors who listen to you and treat the "whole person", not just symptoms. You can tough out a kidney stone, and that isn't easy ( I see many stone patients and I understand the agony you describe) .However, you can't tough out a myocardial infart or other serious conditions. You will die. But of course- I again say, everyone has their freedom, but if someone I love has similar symptoms I would do everything in my power to have them checked out. I only hope the best outcome because that is my calling.
