Anyone willing to chat to me about severe panic attacks and symptoms as I can't control them past a certain point. Much appreciated

@Dieselevo

🥺

I'm so sorry you suffer with panic attacks.

It's important to identify triggers and stressors, to allow things to not escalate in the first place.

What works for me is counting my breaths slowly until my heart rate slows down.

Listening to music to feel focused and calm.

And telling myself, I'm safe, it cannot hurt me and it'll pass soon 💕💜

@Dieselevo

You are welcome , oh one hundred percent, I get you, it's not simple at all, it's tiring, scary and it often takes a million different combinations before we find something that actually helps us 💜💕

Breathe control really helps me. I’ll count audibly or inside my head to 7 then say breathe and breathe.

@Dieselevo

Hi I'm really glad to see you're using this space to reach out and find some comfort when you're experiencing these intense panic episodes.

It sounds like it can be quite debilitating at times and I can imagine that may be isolating when others don't seem to grasp how much of an effect this is having on your mental wellbeing.

I noticed you mentioned losing control past a certain point, and it sounds like you may have found some coping strategies that work short-term but aren't so effective when the panic intensifies, is that right?

There are a range of listeners here. Some that have direct lived experience with panic attacks and anxiety, and other members as well who can relate.

If you ever want to chat, feel free drop me a message. I'll get back to you when I'm able. No pressure at all.

I appreciate you thinking of your wellbeing and making this step to prioritise it 💛

@Dieselevo

I don't have them as frequently, but I do get panic attacks too.

So when I do, I find out what triggers my panic attacks, and I stop myself from thinking about it beforehand from there on...

But if it still doesn't work sometimes, I focus on my breathing, complete a small task, drink water or eat something. Basically distract myself. But sitting by the swing, or going to the rooftop for a while helps too, makes things less suffocating... Hope it helps 🍀 💕
