I am a Compulsive Liar

February 24th, 2016

I am a compulsive liar

Should you belive me when I say that? Well being a complusive liar does not mean I can not tell the truth because I can and I do but it does mean that I feel the need to lie about almost everything.

So we all tell a few white lies here and there right?

Well lying is not something I am proud of and sometimes I can not control it, there is a part of me that thinks lying sounds better than the truth. The differnce from this and telling 'white lies' is that this is all the time and is a compulsion, no matter how big or small the lie it doesnt matter to me when I am doing it.

Do I feel guilty for lying all the time?

I do feel guilty about my lies but not as I am telling them because I do not lie in order to harm anyone. I feel guilty after the lie has been said and I will often point out my lie and I will appologise for it.

So why write this Thread?

1 - to raise awarness

2 - to stop stigma

3 - to help others

I find this thread interesting because I think we are all guilty of telling a lie at some point in our lives, it's why we told that lie which is important and the circumstances around it!

If you are telling lies to intentional cause harm or hurt someone and your enjoying it, I'd suggest you would need to seek some professional help regarding that, to identify if there are any underlying issues which are feeding this behaviour.

If you are telling a lie to protect someone, this is slightly different, because I believe the intentions are honourable and you are not intentionally hurting people, however, by doing this, you also have to find a way to live with the lie, which in some cases can be incredibly difficult to do, and can become somewhat of a burden.

I think you as you are the best person to judge your own behaviour, weather this is right or wrong in others eyes, as long as you are happy with the decisions you make and you can live with them.

Best wishes
