Mental Illness Discrimination
I have really bad Social Anxiety and I feel like some people discriminate against me because of it. I try to live like I don't have anxiety and I'm doing everything possible to get better. I feel like it's hard for me to get a job because employers see me as not outgoing. I've had managers refuse to hire me because I'm too anixious. I feel like I'm not being treated fairly when they say that. I know I'm too quiet but I don't feel like that's wrong. Personally, I perfer having a waitress or cashier that is quiet. I just wish more people were awear of this issue.

Raising awarness won't help. Employers look for some profils and if you don't have the qualities they want you don't get the job.
Of course that's totally unfair.
But that's how it works and there's no helping that. I do feel bad that you have to go through it as it obviously is a difficult and demanding challenge. No one would like to change themselves for a job.
If you're not how they want, they don't care how hard you try... No-one will help us fitting in. I'm sorry that this is how it works and I hope you get something you like :)

I'm not sure 'Discrimination' is the right word. Employers have the right to hire who THEY feel is the best candidate. MANY factor come into play. Even your overall Likeability. After all, they the Boss needs to interact with the person he hires
Discrimination is recognition and understanding of the difference between one thing and another. I feel like everyone should have the same opertunity to gain employement. employeers shouldn't be able to discriminate against someone with a mental illness. Actually, it's illegal for an employer to discriminate against someone with a mental illness. Yet, they still coninue to discriminate. Everyone needs employeement to survive so denying someone a job makes it more difficult for that person to survive. I understand if that person isn't qualifyed as far as education or experence then they can't have that job. If the job requires you to just type on a key board then you shouldn't be denyed that job because of poor social skills or being unfriendly. @ChromeLotus
