Nausea and anxiety. Help

May 11th, 2016

Hi guys,

I have acknowledged to myself that I actually have anxiety. I couldnt really believe that all the nausea, heart pulpitations and loss of appetite over the last 3 months was all due to this. But... I witnessed myself the on and off switch in my head 3 days ago and thats when I realised it was.

I was vomitting all morning - of course nothing was coming back up and then driving in the car with my husband talking about anxiety and then POW! No sickness, got hungry and no heart pulpitations. It was like the anxiety disappeared. Of courses this only lasted till the next day and back to feeling sick but I realised at that moment it was all anxiety.

I've accepted the fact that I need help. My brain is stuck in a vicious loop that I cant get out of on my own. Started anti-depressants and just seen a psychologists.

I've been on the anti-depressants for just under 2 weeks and still no change. Probably a little more anxious and nauseated since being on them.

My question is, how long were you on meds before you started to feel better and did it help with nausea and heart pulpitations? I only want to hear the good stories as I dont think I could handle anything negative right now. I NEED HOPE.

Thanks guy

Let me just gently raise my hand and let you know you're not the only one. Also, that there's definitely hope.

Last year around this time, I had just finished a season of very stressful work. Now I had troubles with anxiety and panic attacks in the past, but they had been lying dormant for about six years. So I figured maybe something in my brain had shifted, maybe I was just coping with it better, I didn't know but I didn't care. Until one day just driving down the road on the way to my kid's school, I got the overwhelming idea that I was having a heart attack.

Everything was fine at first! I was just driving along, bopping to the music, and then boom. My left arm tingled, my chest felt tight, and I grew more and more convinced by the second that I was going to die. That day ended up with my in the hospital, having every test under the sun performed on me, only to have them tell me I was fine and sent home.

The next couple of months were absolute hell. I was scared to eat, scared to leave the house, scared to move around too much or even climb the stairs, because I believed somehow it would raise my heart rate enough to send me into cardiac arrest. It was irrational, overwhelming, dread.

I finally sought help after about three or four months of that, and was put on medication. The kind they gave me took a few weeks to start taking affect, and they told me before hand it might. I said that's fine, as long as it worked.

And it did. I was gradually able to start going out again. It took a while but I stopped sending myself to the hospital every few days. So that was a very long story and I hope you don't mind me going into detail but I felt like a little explanation was needed. Especially since you asked for success stories and encouragement. Just know that even though I didn't experience the same nausea, I had those same heart palpatations! And those were the worst, but that got much better too. I still have them every now and then, but I find myself better able to say, "Listen, we've had tests done and they turned out to be nothing, so chill a little." And even believe it when I say it, most of the time. XD

Stay strong, and give the med another week or so. If you still don't feel any change, then talk to your doctor and let them know what's going on. /All the hugs and love for you/ It will get better!

@Mamabear83

Thankyou so much for sharing your story.

Tgey believe the anxiety has been caused by ptsd from ooerations I had in January. Ever since then its been a struggle.

Trying so hard to beat it.
