What am I supposed to do with EGO IDEAL?

Wikipedia says: ego ideal is the inner image of oneself as one wants to become, consisting of "the individual's conscious and unconscious images of what he would like to be, patterned after certain people whom he regards as ideal.", "an image of the perfect self towards which the ego should aspire".

The thing is I've alwways dreamed of having or becoming certain things. I used to say ''I know what I want, I just don't know HOW to get it''. I've never been able to make a plan to go from point A to point B. And recently I've been wondering why I've done absolutely nothing with my life so far... Depression and anxiety definitely have a part to play in this. But I felt there's something more...

Today I dscovered the term ''ego ideal''. Now, am I supposed to do with it?File:Freud. Ego ideal—Ego—Object—Outer Object.png - Wikimedia Commons

West, this is a great post about the ego and a lot of good information. Even those I haven't done much reading about ego ideal as I haven't taken the course in cognitive psychological I will say that you can mirror the behavior of others that you like or inspire to me. It's a common thing that you will hear well you get older to look at the people that inspire you or you what you want to be. If your looking for further reading it might be helpful to look at human development and cognitive psychology,
