I want to go back in time

Everyone thinks about this. I’ve asked some of my friends and was pretty surprised to hear a couple of them wouldn’t go back, even if they could. Lately, in my lower points, I feel almost consumed by the idea of going back to my childhood with the memories I have today. I would take full advantage of the opportunities I’ve squandered and treat my friends with the love they deserved from the start. I’d have new, different problems, of course, but I would reduce my mistakes and improve the situation of myself and those around me so much.

I recently had a dream where this really happened, and I saw some family members and pets that have passed on. I talked to friends I don’t see anymore. When I woke up I literally sat up in my bed just thinking about it.

I will never be able to do this, obviously. It’d be really healthy to be in a place where I can honestly say I wouldn’t do it, that I accept my place in life even with the uncomfortable parts of my past. To obsess over this fantastical hypothetical is to obsess over regret. I will heal and move on. But does anyone else feel like this? Gotten hung up on some sort of unrealistic thing where they could just fix everything? Would you go back in time if you could?

@volantgeoduck Yeah 100%, but you would trade today’s problems for another set - one of my favorite movie genera is time travel - Butterfly Effect is a bit dated but if you haven’t seen it maybe it is worth a watch. What you have learned will change your present and future and that is something to be grateful for.
