PAT Meeting March 2024!
Hi, PAT, how are all of us as a unit doing?
Team, I wanted this meeting because I've some strong and passionate feelings for our team to share with you!
I aspire very big for us since the beginning of us (the beginning of the peer appreciation program was October 2021).
I want to see 100 appreciation every week and 50 smile spreaders, I know, I know, sounds very big! But hey, that's my passion speaking and I let it speak without judgment hehe 😃
So, please, I invite your ideas. How may we have more smile spreaders in our team? Should each of us (or those who'd like to) personally reach out and invite more people to our team? I also made this change in our 'Message to send to appreciated peer' message, it now reads like this:
Hi, ___! This is to inform you that you are a wonderful person and we discovered some of your infinite wonder recently. Surprised? Don’t be! Check out the appreciation we made for you here: (insert exact post link) We also invite you to join our team here: https://forms.gle/rgPfNwytBgJRChp7A Let's together spread hundred or more smiles every week 😀 |
How's it? 😄
Would this help, you think? I think we can also write a word about joining our team when we make appreciation posts -that's another idea!
Any more ideas for anything in our team? I also look for Star Leaders for our team! Star Leader is like a project agent plus.
What's this 'plus', you may ask!! This plus is looking after the team and making sure we go and grow smoothly. So, a star leader looks after the team in addition to taking up an additional task in the team (for example, @Heathermarie95 makes cheers announcement, PAT Checkins, @sadcat13 makes our appreciation form pretty as well as looks after the appreciation hall, @Bella20 looks after 'Encouraging Smiles' tab they came up with and decorate the looks of all tabs in general, and @AnnaSilverberg makes special team bonding posts and keeps us bonding and smiling!)
Earlier, I was thinking there should be 2 leaders for the team (that's how a team conventionally works), but our PAT has been very special and uniquely vibrant! We share a connection of trust and admiration, and a spirit of working together very naturally. May I also mention @Sunisshiningandsoareyou who always looks after us, believes in us and contributes in their ways to our growth!
I am thinking we can tag all people as star leaders who do both of these 2 things:
1) The Plus Part: Oversee the project and make sure everything is working properly. If something is not working properly, star leaders communicate with one another and get the issues fixed as soon as possible. {A big star leaders team ensures we keep running even if one or two leaders are away!}
2) Take up an additional task. I gave some examples of additional tasks above! You can come up with a new idea for the team too and take that up! You will be responsible for everything about executing and maintaining the new idea (if the idea is good for the team and contributing to its happiness!)
Who's up for being a star leader then? 🙂
You may be doing star leaders' tasks unofficially, or if you are up for it, we can have you announced as an official one after a 1-month trial of seeing your work!
Let me know your thoughts about everything I shared!!

Is anybody lurking and wanting to join PAT, our team? 😮 Here you join!

@Fristo I think the new message looks great! How about we run a little trial time of like a week or two where we try posting appreciations ending with an invite to join us and see if it gives us an increase in applications? 😊
I think the star leader increase is a good idea, but I think if there will be more people in leading positions, we need to have a leader responsible for the leaders and overall management of it, as not everyone has the same level of permissions (like edits) or the right to refuse and deny appreciation requests and deciding when we are fully not doing one because of issues with the appreciated peers profile, so the time to say we are giving up on this request is something even i don't dare to do despite being familiar with the program rules and overseeing the hall functionality. So we should have a clear structure of who the leaders report to in case a task is above their permissions and a clearly defined roles of who has what responsibility. Also, don't forget that the position of someone who is overall overseeing the program like you do rn is a thing that guarantees the unity, because if you have more people all on same levels with "self-government" rights, there is a big chance of more people having conflicting ideas for the team in which case we need someone to be there and decide the overall team direction. Sooo. Would advice you to be careful about positions of leadership. More people overseeing the functionality of hall and tabs? Great. More people having an unique idea they will be responsible for? Amazing. But. More people on an already taken position without a clear structure who is reporting to who or more leadership positions in terms of having full control over directing the program? Very careful with that because it's a potential ground for team destroying resentment.
@sadcat13 So leaders of the project can be limited to just two, while star leaders (project agents plus) can be as many as we want to? 😮
The star leaders may go to leaders in case they need access or permission! Presently, heathermarie and me are the leaders!
@Fristo Yessss. You always need to have a strong and clear leader or two and keep the high leadership positions tight in numbers because it is a ticking pack of chaos if you add more people. The fewer the top positions where it comes to making the big decisions the better the team health (i know it sounds a bit contra productive, but as long as the leaders are open to listen to the feedback of the team and care about the peers, it is necessary for the whole structure to work. We also want to avoid a position sandwich of person A reporting to B, B reporting to C, C reporting to D and D to E. Because if we create too many sandwich layers we will end up working like an average state office where you have to jump through hoops to get something solved because of how many people you need to go through. So again, not effective strategy. So would say we need to be careful about it when creating positions so they don't sandwich for more then you-someone-someone. So we need to focus on parallel positions that don't affect each other or can be done parallely, like watching the functionality of the hall. More people can do it, and they won't clash. So that's great. Or someone has a new idea that they want to bring in the team and being responsible for it, sure. So we should aim for these positions and these are free in numbers. But also worth to consider if everyone has the same special responsibility, It is no longer special, it just becomes a normal team task.
