💪 How Has Pain Shaped Your Strength?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been reflecting a lot on how pain—whether physical, emotional, or mental—has shaped who I am today. I think we all have our stories, our scars, and experiences that have made us stronger, even though at the time, it felt like the opposite.
A few years ago, I went through a pretty tough time—facing the sudden loss of a loved one. It wasn’t just the grief that hit hard, but also the feeling of being stuck. For a long time, I felt like I was just moving through life on autopilot, unable to find joy in anything.
But here’s the thing: as time went on, I realized that the pain wasn’t something to avoid or fix immediately. It became part of me—part of my story. Slowly, I started to understand that facing that pain, feeling it fully, was what gave me the strength to move forward.
One day, after months of just barely getting by, I took a walk by the lake near my house. The weather was chilly, but the silence was peaceful. I was just walking, thinking about nothing in particular, and then it hit me: I’m still here. Despite the pain, despite the darkness, I’m still moving forward. That realization was like a breath of fresh air.
Now, I don’t view pain as something that weakens me. It’s a reminder that I’ve survived. It’s the fuel that has made me more resilient, more empathetic, and more aware of the beauty in even the smallest moments.
So, I’m curious:
How has pain shaped your strength? How have your hardest moments given you the courage to keep going or even grow in unexpected ways?
Let’s share our stories and remind each other that strength often comes from the most unlikely places. 💛

@AloyXmachina7786 huge trigger warning
I was held captive for 18 years along with other children and a group of bad people. Because of things that happened the bottom of my spine is broken and not completely fixable, luckily I'm only paralysed from the waist down, and with disabled aids I can sit up 💖 also now half my fingers are missing. Anyway after I was rescued at 18, I was brought to this beautiful world a world I didn't know exsisted. I've had to learn so much and adapt to this new life💖 with patients and curiosity I've come along way in the past 6 years😁 and now life is great💖💖 everyone remember to appreciate those small things we often miss💖💖

@Tinywhisper11 You are a very strong person!
@I am touched by your story, and still unable to comprehend at the same time. I have yet to experience any real growth or even say anything positive has ever came from going thru a traumatizing experience. I suffer from PTSD from early childhood trauma and I guess I just buried everything all my life and ignored it. I don't know how I did it, I just did. I'm 61 years old now and I guess I couldn't handle it anymore. I self medicated for 35 years and that allowed me to live life and take care business. But when I finally decided to quite and live sobor, I found out it was harder than I thought. I was fine for about 5 months, but then I started getting bad stomach problems. I was in the ER or urgent care every other day for a month trying to get help, but they don't really have anything for pain in the stomach. I got meds but they didn't do much to help my pain and living with the fear of the pain getting out of control everyday for 3 months while they sent me to every kind of test , ultrasound, CT scans exrays, and even surgery to put a camera down into my stomach, they still had no answers and no help. By then I had already lost my job, my truck broke down and forced me to by a car on credit for the first time ever, putting me in a unstable financial situation. And from their my world started crumbling. My roommate of 2 years all on the same day, gone. One died from a heart attack, and the other went to jail and couldn't return. So my financial security was wiped out I and I plunged in to debt with no way to stabilize it because of my health. And with the tremendous stress and anxiety piled on me I was crippled and unable to function. And I have never been able to recover physically enough to even get out of bed. And that was the beginning of my downfall. I have managed to keep the rent paid for the last 3 years, and have enough food to stay alive, but that is coming to an end soon. I can't afford to keep it up. My rent a has almost doubled and I totalled my car and lost my licence last year and can't afford to keep the house from falling apart. I live in total fear everyday and my health has deteriorated to. Just breathing and keeping my heart from exploding. I can't eat, sleep, shower, change my clothes or brush my hair. And my house is in shambles because I can't clean. I have no life. I just haven't died yet. I just suffer and worry, and wait to see if I die before I get thrown out in the streets. And I am helpless to help myself. So I don't think getting sobor was the right choice for me. Because without it, I crashed and burned. I just pray it will be over soon. I am far more afraid of homelessness then death. Either way is going to be ***. But I have no other options. I failed. I totally failed. And I don't see anything positive in my future. So I am not looking for help to get better. Theres no chance of that happening. I only hope for things to end before they get any worse.. And it needs to be soon..
