Proud of myself because...
Today marked the last meeting of the semester with a counselor I have been seeing for depression and dealing with the emotions surrounding unreturned affections from someone I really cared about. I know it might sound silly because many people have probably already hadthat unrequited love experience, but it was my first major heartbreak and I was having such a hard time dealing with it.
Anyway, I am very proud that I have changed so much in my emotional state of dealing with this heartbreak. In the beginning, I was so broken, sobbing every day, trying to desperately distract myself, sleeping for too many hours of the day due to depression, and just all around feeling so worthless.
But now, four months later, I feel like I have a better handle on the situation. I'm beginning to focus more on how to improve myself and evaluate what I want. I'm crying a lot less and not seeking out the man of my affections anymore to try and change his mind. It's still so difficult. There are days I still feel worthless and emotionally numb, where I cry for a bit over the whole situation, where I desperately long to see this person. But i think I will be okay, and I'm going to really miss my counselor and appreciate all she has done to help me get through this mess. <3
That's great! Congratulations!

Did talking about and dealing with your issues actually help?
Talking about what I kept feeling I think helped some because I was getting itout in the open for someone that I knew wouldn't judge me or tell me I was being ridiculous and just needed to move on already (like some of my friends had been saying). The counselor never made me feel guilty for what I was feeling, telling me it was normal. The encouragement helped me find my own coping mechanisms. :)
Sometimes I do feel incredibly upset about the experience, but they are becoming less and less.
Congratulations! I know exactly how your feeling because I'm going through my first heart break as well. Is the hardest thing to go through. I'm trying to find someone on here to talk to about it. I've been doing really great but still have a few things I need help with. I'm happy for you, because I know it's the hardest thing to deal with.
I removed myself from an emotionally, mentally, and verbally abusive friendship, despite knowing the difficulties I will face next year at school having to face her every day and the problems that might arise with mutual friends. Plus the fact that she was my best friend.
Proud of myself because I proved everyone who doubted me wrong. I graduated, & I'm on my way to college.
