Trying New Things? Yikes!
Soooooooo I'm trying to learn to cook this month. How's it going so far? Hark! I can hear you ask. And the answer is NOT WELL.
Italians prepare yourself.
I have handfuls and handfuls of varying levels of cooked pasta, WITH sauce, onion, dill and garlic in my trash can right now and an urgent need for cookies and a colon cleanse.
It started off innocently enough.
I threw some pasta in a pot of boiling water and strained most of it out, leaving some of the pasta water because it's supposed to help.
Help what? Who knows. Ask Gordon Ramsey or a Nona.
Anyway.
I had pre-chopped onion and garlic like a boss and sprinkled lemon, lime and dill on it and made a plateful of pretty edible pasta when things began to go terribly wrong.
Recalling a video I watched on meal-prepping ie: making lots of food at once to eat throughout the week I decided to give it a try.
Welp. I added too much pasta to my small-medium pot to try boil at once.
Needless to say, the bottom of the noodles in the water were cooked and the rest was not, and having some flashback of someone freaking out about pasta being cut in half or broken I panicked and threw it out, thinking NO ONE WILL KNOW.
Well now everyone knows.
Needless to say I qUiT (For today.) and am going to rot my teeth out with some Nutella Coffee and cookies.
I've never tried nutella coffee but I can't see how it could be a bigger disaster than The Great Spaghetti Waste of earlier.
Whether or not I try baking the cookies is undecided...what would be your vote? Make the cookies or buy?
@Dallady Learning to cook can be a challenging and frustrating experience at times, but it's important to remember that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process. Don't be too hard on yourself for the pasta mishap - it happens to the best of us! As for the cookies, why not give baking a try? It can be a fun and rewarding experience, and who knows, you might surprise yourself with how delicious they turn out. And if they don't, there's always the option to buy some as a backup. Keep at it and don't give up on your cooking journey!

Thanks for your supportive comment! I wish I had it sooner; might have tried baking the cookies instead of buying some.
I could still try baking them today though...my cookie jar is feeling sad because it's empty
I'm trying a one pot dish today with mushrooms, red peppers and garlic, tomato sauce, coconut oil with chickpeas and rice and coffee.
And maybe cookies too! 😆 Actually I'll start them now...
@Dallady
My boyfriend is a far more experienced cook compared to myself and is always trying to teach me his tips and tricks. Sometimes I fail when I try to remember them as well 😂 Sounds like a good attempt and I am sure it will be easier next time! Don't get discouraged 😃
@Dallady
Lol, thank you for sharing this story. Sometimes trying new things can confirm that some of those "things" simply are NOT for you. It's a process of elimination. Some things work for you and some things don't. Your dedication is admirable. I'd suggest that you take a step back, choose a few more recipes, then decide whether or not you want to continue trying the "cooking" experience. And leave the Nutella alone. I can send you some RESPECTABLE chocolate, lol.
